Jeth 0 #1 July 26, 2004 Ok, so now that I'm thoroughly jealous of my friend AJ who completed AFP in 4 straight days, I need to hear from others who took several weeks or months. I don't have that big pile 'o money that she does, so I won't be able to pay for all those jumps anytime real soon. Anyone else in my boat?? Or who else did it all in one shot? (I know lots of people do AFF in one shot, but AFP is 18 jumps so I'm hoping I'm not the only one who has to spread it out... C'mon! Make me feel better! "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." eeneR 3 #2 July 26, 2004 QuoteI need to hear from others who took several weeks or months. Sorry did mine in 6 days (over 3 weekends) Most i did was 5 a day... By the way for those of you who are not familiar with AFP it is an 18 jump program, that is preceeded with 2 tandems. Before the jump number change it would take you all the way to being fully qualified for your A license She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto
soarfree 0 #3 July 26, 2004 4 days! Class + 2 jumps Thursday 6 on Friday 5 on Saturday 4 on Sunday Tired and sore, but I can't wait to go back for my first solo jump! Didn't pack and jump my own chute so I can't do my 18th graduation jump until after packing class! #18 is free though - yippee! Don't worry Beth, plenty of AFP'ers at SDC (and no doubt elsewhere) that are on a more extended plan. I saved for a year after my first tandem to be able to do my AFP jumps all at once! Blue skies! Dougiefresh 0 #5 July 26, 2004 Did my first AFP last fall, then started for real as soon as it got warm in april. Graduated two weeks ago, so ~4 months for me. That's doing 3 jumps a week whenever I could.Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams
tigra 0 #6 July 26, 2004 Jeth, I did mine in about 6 weeks, including my first tandem. This was a few years ago and the program was a little different- I had to do 3 tandems and 15 AFP jumps. I'd go out every weekend and made 2-3 jumps each time I was out. Even though money is an issue, I strongly recommend making at least 2 jumps in a day, 3 would be even better. (any more than 3 might be overload- just my opinion......) The first jump of the day you'll be dealing with jitters and trying to remember what you learned the last time you were out. By the second jump, you'll have settled down a bit and things will start to sink in and click a little bit better! When I was a student, my second jump of the day was always my best. Good luck to you! maura
kallend 2,150 #7 July 26, 2004 Took me around a month. I had to fit jumps in around a lot of other stuff. In the absence of any constraints I would do it all as fast as possible.... It sucked leaving the DZ last time after just the 1 jump. I was thinking the next one would be so much better. But I wasn't ready immediately after it and they were taking the last load up then so I declined. But my plan in the future is to do at least 2 jumps a day. And also spend the rest of the day there just observing, meeting people and soaking up the atmosphere. My 2nd tandem was sooooo much better than my first, I really hope my 2nd solo jump is also 1000 times better than my first! ) Thanks for the tips!"At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!!
