chuckbrown 0 #3 August 3, 2004 If anybody uses a written agreement when they do demos, I'd like to get a copy. I could write my own, but why reinvent the wheel? Plus, considering the experience of the demo jumpers who post here, I'm sure they've run into issues that I can't think of. I'm just looking to reduce the engagement to writing. That way everybody knows what they're buying and selling. If you think that written agreements turn prospective clients off, tell me that. Thanks. BillyVance 35 #6 August 4, 2004 Hi Chuck, I am preparing for a demo jump in Michigan for the state school for the deaf this fall, and I have an all-deaf team ready to do it. Because I'm the demo team leader, I'm doing most of the paperwork. The sponsor of the jump did ask me to write up a contract, which I hadn't thought of doing before. So I wrote one up. It's still in draft mode, but basically, you state who's jumping for who and where, and for how much, if any, compensation, etc. and state that demo insurance is covering the sponsor and host of the jump and that they will not be held liable for damages caused by the demo jumpers. I'm sure there's some more details that would be helpful, but I'll email you my version as soon as I retrieve it from my work email... as long as you have MS WORD... Got a regular email address? PM it to me. BillyVance 35 #7 August 4, 2004 I forgot to mention that it helps if you discuss the particulars, including compensation, with the demo sponsor/host prior to getting it all on paper, so that they know what to expect. That way you can't turn them off. You usually have to tailor a contract to each particular demo. The only real standard info in a contract is that you state the demo insurance and what it covers, and that you release them from liability for your own actions, and include a copy of the demo insurance paperwork with the contract as proof of coverage. As a general rule of thumb, always go with no less than $1 million in coverage. That at least covers attorney/medical fees if you get taken to court. The $250,000 coverage is pretty worthless, but probably would be okay on open-field classified demos. Just my opinion...
