Skydiving & Liability Insurance

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone -
I'm taking a class this semester where I have to write a pretty big position paper to change some sort of issue.

I was thinking of writing about how difficult it is for DZ's to get decent insurance policies and how (and why) it should be changed...

Anyone know any decent resources/stories I should look at for some basic research? :)

Thanks!!

-Sam

Interesting but what is there to change? It is a high liability and hence high cost propostion. You can't change the economics of the situation.

Maybe you could work backwards from there a bit and look at tort reform.

Part of the reason DZs don't have insurance is they don't want to say "here is a big fat purse for you to sue for if something goes wrong." The insurance companies agree.

I am in the Ins biz and have had high school kids cal
me for doing a paper regarding biz Ins. The Lloyds
will insure just about any risk. Write or email them
as a perspective DZ owner and you should get a response. If ins were required I am am sure Tandems would be approx $500 per jump. Then we as skydivers would be non exisitant.
