My 1st Jump

Recommended Posts

I had been waiting for this moment for a long time and it finally came. I am doing a progessive tandem course, and I completed my first Working Tandem today. Everything went fine, I even got one 360 in and then pulled at 5,500, coasted down learning how to turn left and right, then landing wasn't as graceful as I wished. I don't know what happened but we hit pretty hard and a banged my tail bone, and some minor scrapes. My ass feels alright now, just sore, but my instructor might have dislocated his shoulder. I am not sure on his status. Other than that, it was the most amazing thing I have ever done and I hope to continue my path to getting an A license.

Dale,

Glad you got your jump done today!

Well, I wasn't the instructor, Rich, one of our other part-time instructors was. He did dislocate his shoulder, he was taken to the Doc and he's put back together. He was even put back together soon enough to get to Kyle Field for the 2nd half of the game! :)
I couldn't tell you exactly what happened during the flare and landing, I wasn't out at the landing area at the time, I was getting another tandem student ready at the time. At some point the tandem pair did hit hard, during all of this the TI's shoulder was disloacted, but the events that lead up to that...I couldn't say.

From what I understand, though, it sounds like Dale had a kickass jump, getting all of his goals done for his Cat A working Tandem skydive. That's awesome!

Oh, glad to hear that your ass is ok after a tandem with Rich...>:(:P:P
