BillyVance 35 #1 October 4, 2004 Just wanted to say what a great Capital Commentary that Chris Needels wrote in the October issue of Parachutist. It has been a long time coming for USPA to put out their official position regarding a few bad apples who are raping the sport for their own greed. Chris had it right that there is only so much that USPA can officially do, and the onus for doing something about this problem falls on the rest of us as a whole. I think you know what I'm talking about. It all started in a little town called Cedartown, but has since spread to places in PA, AL and IL. This has been the big issue the past 3 years or so. Together, we can eliminate this problem and drive the scumbags out or at least keep them in check, or we can idly sit by and let them take over the skydiving world. Well, what are you going to do about it? There will be some that disagree with me, but by and far, I'm sure the masses agree that something needs to be done. PhreeZone 20 #3 October 4, 2004 Quit going there if you are local, don't stop by if you are traveling through... recommend other DZ's in the area instead of those. Anything to avoid giving them money. Tell your DZ that you don't want them to accept the Skyride certificates and explain why.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Also, steer your friends and anyone else thinking about doing a tandem or first jump, away from these places. bob.dino 1 #8 October 5, 2004 See a lawyer. I'm not fully conversant with US laws, but in other Western countries, they'd be in breach of two, and possibly three, laws: 1. Copyright. Must be obtained from the photographer (not necessarily the person in the photo). 2. Libel/defamation. They're implying something about the person in the photo that isn't true. 3. In some countries (eg. Ireland, France), they'd also be in breach of privacy laws, as you can't publish photos of people without their consent. A lawyer could give you legally binding advice for not a whole lot of money. Call one.
Zenister 0 #9 October 5, 2004 isnt me, i'm not qualified to formally instruct anything in skydiving...yet (i can tell you how i've learned to freefly and am pretty good at training, as it is a regular part of my job but......) it was just a thought that had occurred to me after seeing several people here complain that they were included as 'staff' on multiple non-existent dropzone websites...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
