StevePhelps 0 #1 October 5, 2004 I made this poster (24" x 18") from some of my stills. Any thoughts? My goal was to keep it bright, eye catching with a simple message. The plan is to place in bars and college dorms, and other places. http://www.skydivevideo.info/poster3_small.jpg
Tonto 1 #2 October 5, 2004 Whoa! There's a blast from the past! That's where I did my Tandem rating in 1992... Nice poster. tIt's the year of the Pig.
PrairieDoug 0 #3 October 5, 2004 Very nicely done. If you add any more pics to it, I'd consider one of somebody under canopy.
StevePhelps 0 #4 October 5, 2004 yeah, canopy shot! Some FF too! Thanks!
DZJ 0 #5 October 5, 2004 Cool poster, but I'd agree that a canopy pic would be good. Also, the exit pic in the top left is good, but I think it needs cropping a little tighter to put more emphasis on the faces of the student and instructor.
StevePhelps 0 #6 October 5, 2004 I agree -- so I cropped it -- better? http://www.skydivevideo.info/poster3_small.jpg
DZJ 0 #7 October 5, 2004 Yeah, better. I expect you probably wanted to have the word 'SKYDIVE' visible on the underside of the wing, but I think having that in view made the subjects too small.
Fast 0 #8 October 5, 2004 People are smart but from a quick glance I don't know if people will understand the feel your going for with the shot that has the wing. I would find one where its maybe a little farther and you can see more of the plane. We can recognize instantly that it is the underside of a wing but I don't know if wuffos will catch that as they walk by a poster on the wall. It might not matter if they get it, but I think that the point your trying to make will be more clear if you choose a shot that is both close to the main subject and still indicative of the plane inthe background. It seems that the subject of that area of the post ought to be more of the "what your doing" than the "who is doing it" I think that the expression of someone just exiting is cool too but the orientation of the picture doens't make it stand out to me. p.s. I like the way you used the backgrounds as more of a landscape and allowed the pictures to sort of pour out from the "window" of the ground below. Though i might chop the leg of the reserve side (white) JM because it would give more depth and wouldn't be overdoing the effect. He does appear to be much farther back.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Kris 0 #9 October 5, 2004 Yeah, I've got some thoughts, Steve.... Now I can handle Katiebear having the same color pattern on her BirdMan suit as I do because, well, she's Katie and she's my . But is there really someone in OK with the same colors as moi? Damn....that's freaky. I need to get my booty out to Airtight and check that place out. As for the overall poster, damn nice.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
StevePhelps 0 #10 October 5, 2004 Kris: When I was at Cushing (long time ago) you had purple. Mike Swearingen has a purple birdman + he has the same color of canopy as mine: purple/teal. See you at the DZ I hope!

Thanks for your input though. BTW I did crop reserve JM leg (on the original) as I was not happy with his white jump suit blending into the white sky. Good suggestion! Looks great though [beginning] skydiving IS expensive! Too many prices and variables for a poster (video, stills, AFF, tandem, IAD, different AFF prices on each levvel, yada, yada, yada) -- that's why the website address is prominant.
