Train tracking dive

Recommended Posts

I have been thinking about a group(1-5+) getting together in single file holding on to the legs of the person in front of them, and then everyone straighten their legs out to go into a track. Has anyone tried that, what would be the results? Would it be faster then a solo track even though your hands are not back, due to a "nascar" drafting, pushing effect? Or would it just be plain fun to try? I was thinking of 2 types of grips, you could have the person keep their legs straight out, and you grab their feet, which would have your arms stretched out in front of you(backslide postion). That would seem to take some of the speed out of it. The other position was to have the person infront of you hold their legs in a V and you pretty much have the top of your head between their legs, this allows you to being your arms more towards your body which is more "pro-track" that the above grips.
It seems that it would work better if you line up like this trackers front to slower tracker rear configuration. I would like to see how this would work out in the air.
I have done dives called the "shredder" where 2 jumper are facing each others feet, holding on to the others leg straps in their right hand. Out the door both jumpers go into a hard track with the left hand by their side. You start holding the other person at your side, then as you spin faster you cannot hold it, and you relax to arms length. Finally you cannot hold a grip any longer, and the 2 jumper blow apart in 2 directions. Then you try and redock with eachother. IT is fun.

Standard "Crack the whip" type jump. Everyone takes Cat Grips and the leader tracks. When he feels like it he dives and the entire formation follows him. Last person holding on tends to get tossed off.

Funny this should come up. Saw a video of friends doing this at the DZ just this weekend. It was very entertaining, both to see the dive and hearing from the vidiot about chasing it.:D At first it looked like a four way gone wrong.

I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane.

we did something like this w/ 4 ppl. apparently the guy in back fell the fastest of all of us and couldn't get up to fall as slow as us (don't know why)

he was on my legs and ended up flapping around like a streamer hanging kind of below me. it was funny as hell

We cheated - instead of Cat grips, we used to take hold of the leg straps. It's easier to launch it this way out of a otter and hold it together. The best we did was six or seven people (nine out of a tail gate)....if you try more they tend to hit the door B|. With as many people as we had on, as leader I was almost able to do a full circle coming back to grab the person at the end. Booties really help with the steering and you have to over control your inputs to get the train moving. I never thought of trying to do a barrell roll.

As mentioned, full face is a good idea. And build it heaviest up front, lightest in back. We did one with two heavy guys on the ends and the guy at the back didn't last through one or two cracks of the whip.
