NoRules 0 #1 November 21, 2004 okay so i just got my new container (and it looks great, i absolutely love it) but when i put it on it didn't fit perfectly. i reallyyyy don't want to be picky, but the hip ring sits about two inches above my hip bone, which makes the whole rig sit very high on my back and uncomfortable to pull the hackey and arch. like i said, i had great service and the rigs looks really great, so i don't want to be one of those annoying customers, but then again, i feel like if paid so much money for a new container it should fit me well. what would you do? would you call the manufacturer? i know i gave them the right measurements but i have a long torso and i wonder if they figured i made a mistake and adjusted the numbers i sent them. ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
quade 4 #2 November 21, 2004 How do you know you gave them the right measurements? Where you measured by a professional that deals with the manufacturer on a regular basis?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
NoRules 0 #3 November 21, 2004 i had two people check them over after i did them... they don't deal with the manufacturer but i can honestly say to the best of my ability that i gave them the correct numbers as were described on the ordering website. ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
lewmonst 0 #4 November 21, 2004 Sunpath replaced my main lift web at no charge when I said it was too long. I was measured by a gear store on a reputable dz. Mirage has good customer service too. I'm guessing by your profile you got the rig from Mirage. I'm sure they'd make it right. peace lewhttp://www.exitshot.com
quade 4 #5 November 21, 2004 Damn . . . You might try calling the manufacturer and seeing if they can do an exchange for you. If worse comes to worse, you -can- have a rigger do a modification, if if you bought it new and custom it really should have been done right. Do you have a copy of the order you sent the manufacturer?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
NoRules 0 #6 November 21, 2004 yeah, i still have it. i could/should call them on monday and see if the size of the lift web corresponds to the numbers i sent them. that sucks, i hate being *that* customer. ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
ltdiver 3 #7 November 21, 2004 Maia, (hey, that's the last name of a co-worker of mine too!) Your profile says your a 'wanderer' in reference to a home DZ. Well, think you might want to wander over to a DZ that has a rigging loft (let's say The Ranch) and have a rigger look at the fit. Some manufacturers are very picky about just -how- their required measurements be taken. Yours sounds like it need adjustment. The rig needs to be safe and comfortable for you to fly...you'll be jumping it for years to come. :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
NoRules 0 #8 November 21, 2004 thanks lt. you think someone will be there tomorrow, despite the weather? i'm sort of on this horrible time constraint... leaving the country in less than three weeks for an extended period of time and i'd be devastated if i had no rig btw, first name, not last, is maia ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

Plucky 0 #11 November 22, 2004 As ITDiver said, I agree it must be comfortable and safe, but if it's your first rig made for a 150 and a 135 reserve, it will feel like it takes up too little room on your back ... every downsize felt weird for me .. although, it's only been three! I've heard hip rings don't feel right the first time too, but I've never worn any, just what I've heard. Just a thought from a pleb of course. if it restricts your movement in some way, I'm sure it doesn't fit properly. good luck! A nice fitting rig should feel good.
