VisionAir 0 #1 November 23, 2004 a double kill-line slider stowing itself (both lines) somewhere between closing the container and the main floating to the ground after a cutaway. It's a Xaos88 that opened subterminal with line twists after a 3 sec delay from 2400'. The jumper swears he unstowed it while packing. edited to make sense Huh?!? What cloud?!? Oh that!!! SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 November 23, 2004 a still-collapsed slider wouldn't cause linetwists so much as a smacker opening. FWIW, I would not jump my Velo from 2400 feet unless it was an emergency exit. A caveat to that would be if I were doing a high-speed pass from that altitude and had to get out.
VisionAir 0 #3 November 23, 2004 The jumper did admit to three mistakes causing this cutaway but none had to do with the slider. He did a h&p load when he really didn't want to in the first place, exiting from 2400' due to the ceiling when he thought he was going to get at least 3000' and knew better but went anyway, then only gave 3 sec delay knowing he wasn't going to be terminal. All of that has nothing to do with.....he swears he unstowed his slider when packing and did not stow it after opening but when the main was recovered the slider was stowed. It's got us baffled Huh?!? What cloud?!? Oh that!!! That's just Industrial Haze Alex M.
koz2000 1 #4 November 23, 2004 I have seen one unstow itself (loose fabric) but I think the only way it could have stowed iteself is if both the cords caught on some part of the jumper and when it was cut, it collapsed the slider and then released the canopy. I think he probably didn't unstow it. People do make mistakes.______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. diablopilot 2 #5 November 24, 2004 Quotea double kill-line slider stowing itself (both lines) somewhere between closing the container and the main floating to the ground after a cutaway. Nope, and I doubt it's possible. I HAVE jumpes an 88 Xaos with the slider killed on accident and it STILL didn't pop me that bad on a terminal deployment. About like a harder Stiletto opening I'd say....---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. flylikeahandbag 0 #6 November 24, 2004 Different canopy, but I have had one side of my sabreII slider stowed after opening. I definitely unstowed it before the pack job. Suspect the tab got caught in the lines during opening. Didn't cause twists but did slam me.-------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk
