skylord 1 #1 November 28, 2004 All, For those of you who are fellow Mystery Science Theatre 3000 (MST3K) fans, I got their DVD of a skydiving movie called, "The Skydivers". For those of you not familiar with the format, this show takes the worst movies ever made, and has one guy and two robots watch it while doing hilarious voice overs as the movie is played. Anyway, I watched it and found that the movie was filmed only 200 feet from my home I lived at during the 1992-1995 time frame, at the old Quartz Hill airport. My daughter walked to school on a street that appeared in the movie, which I think was filmed in the early 1960s. So, has anyone else seen this movie? If so, was there a dropzone there? I had heard that the original cast was still in the area, but angry that MST3K ridiculed the movie the way they did. So, if there is anyone out there who has info, or if you are a castmember who was in the movie, let me know. I'd love to chat with you about the old Quartz Hill airport and former drop zone. How could -anyone- defend that movie. MSK3K was right and the movie is totally mockable. Now, excuse me while I stand around with my leg up on stuff. ltdiver 3 #8 November 28, 2004 Great bad weather flick when we're all waiting around for the sky to clear. Watched it a few years back when the NSL-SSL meet was being held up at Elsinore. Not much to do when you're waiting around and skydivers are easily entertained. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

skylord 1 #11 November 29, 2004 Quote BTW, know where I can get some coffee? Quade, Wasn't that hilarious???? It took the whole movie to get coffee!!! And watch out for that last 2,000 feet, it goes really quick!!!! It was just amazing to me to see my neighborhood from the 60s. The shoot out and high speed chase, at an almost unthinkable 30 mph, was shot on Avenue M. Just a couple hundred yards from my old house............ craichead 0 #12 November 29, 2004 Oh yah...MST3K rocks! My (whuffo) friend started buying all of the DVDs when they were first released, and one night he came over for dinner with "The Skydivers" in hand. It was so funny yet so painful to watch! Afterwards, AndyMan and I had to cleanse our minds of the awful skydiving movie, so we popped in Joe Jenning's "Good Stuff." The pushing cars out of planes thing always impresses our whuffo friends. _Pm__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
AndyMan 7 #13 November 29, 2004 For some reason, one scene has always stayed with me. For whatever reason, a band is playing at the edge of the runway, and 60's era dancers are dancing. The band stops, the drummer looks up and says "ah, so!" and the band continues.... Definately the campiest movie ever. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. Mayberry 0 #16 December 2, 2004 I am a HUGE MST3K fan!!!! I used to watch it every weekend with my nephew, my wife thought we were crazy!! It was on the Sci-Fi Channel for a while, I'm not sure if it's still there or not. One of my favorites was the X-mas one with Santa, I can't remember the name of the movie right off hand. Thanks for the link!! DonDon Here's to friends!
