Dumpster 0 #1 December 24, 2004 I'm working an even trade on canopies with another individual - What everyones' opinion on how to go about it to assure mutual saticfaction and a secure transaction? Easy Does It
BIGUN 1,483 #2 December 24, 2004 Just draw up a short little agreement of exchange. I; so and so accept X's canopy (insert make, model, S/N here) in exchange for my canopy (insert make, model, S/N here). Both parties agree no additional monies are to be exchanged and the trade constitutes payment in full. Both sign and date it.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
dropzonefool 0 #3 December 24, 2004 C.O.D. cash on delivery. Say $500. you give the post man 500 for the canopy and he gives it to the other guy. The other guy gives the post man $500 and the post man gives it to you. Same? same. You might pay a little in COD charges but it worth it to keep every one square. Dumpster 0 #9 December 24, 2004 And there is another fellow in Georgia who is interested too - He is being more pro-active, providing pictures and such. Easy Does It
flyangel2 2 #10 December 24, 2004 I did a trade with canopies years ago, but the guy lived in the same town as me. He was also a good friend so there was a hassle between us. I'd go with the guy that is being more pro-active since he's in the states. I like Keith's idea with a contract instead of having to exchange money. Also, is there a rigger in your area that is willing to be the middle man. People tend to trust a rigger to hand over items to him, cause if he screws either one of you, you can make a big stink about it here, and people will know to stay away from him.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. TALONSKY 0 #11 December 24, 2004 I would use the local DZ rigger for the exchange. Talk to the DZ see if they will act as the intermedary on the exchange. If yes, have the canopy sent to the DZ, there they can inspect them and let the other party look at it but will not release them until you contact them. I have used this method on a few exchanges. Oh yeah, after the local DZ's agree to help let the other party call them and talk to them. Kirk
killler 2 #12 December 24, 2004 QuoteI'm working an even trade on canopies with another individual - What everyones' opinion on how to go about it to assure mutual saticfaction and a secure transaction? I've done this a few times for people And it worked very well.... You both pick a rigger to sent the chutes to... He inspects them and then ships the canopies to the new owners... You throw him a few bucks plus shipping.... It will cost some money, But it will be on the up and up... Killer...
GravityGirl 0 #13 December 24, 2004 Stay local. Go with your gut feeling. If you can get both canopies to a rigger or broker to inspect and then send off to the appropriate parties that would be best. I would offer (and am offering), but you can probably find somewhere more local with less shipping charges. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! Dumpster 0 #14 December 24, 2004 I appreciate the offer - The fellow in Georgia has given me his riggers info, and then some (trim specs, etc-). However, the canopy in Puerto Rico is a Spectre 170, (preferred) and the canopy in Georgia is a Sabre 170. I'm So Confused! Easy Does It

GravityGirl 0 #17 December 25, 2004 Trading up? What are you looking for in a canopy. I tried to PM you, but was not sucessful. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
Tink1717 2 #18 December 25, 2004 Broker the deal through a rigger that you trust. Make certain that there is the understanding that the riggers role is to evaluate both pieces for both safety and value and that he is a impartial third party. Most lofts and private riggers will do that for a nominal fee (usually the same as a repack fee). With that, you can be reasonably certain that you'll get a fair deal.Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. They ring the bell and runaway... It really pisses him off. -The World Famous Tink.
