Freefly Pimp ???

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody,
This is not a joke: I just got as a gift a "Go Fast" - Freefly Pimp T-shirt. I know what pimp usually mean but I have no idea what it means in skydiving. Can anybody explain me the meaning?

Please bear in mind that I am not a native English speaker.

Thanks!

The public image of a pimp (original 70's meaning) would be someone in a purple crushed velvet suit, broad brimmed hat with a feather stuck out of it.

In other words very "cool" looking… at least if you like that sort of thing.

Thus, while a pimp may have an unsavory job, his style and dress sense can be applied to someone/something in a positive sense.

Thus something can be "pimp" i.e. highly fashionable and de rigueur. I may therefore “pimp my ride” (for example, put big alloy wheels on my car and lower the suspension).

So the phrase “freefly pimp” could I suppose mean a very cool freeflyer... at least that's my take on it. :P
