darrenspooner 0 #1 January 20, 2005 I got 120 jumps, weekend warrior. On account of weather, babies, usual stuff, I haven't jumped since mid-Nov. I am hoping to jump on Saturday, and I know this is something I should just ask the CCI, but what are the regulations about currency in the UK? Do I need a brief, or just be conservative and tell the jumpmaster what I'm planning to do, do I need coaching, checking out? I feel confident but don't want to turn up clueless and appear to think I know everything. ***Die with your boots on
Zoter 0 #2 January 20, 2005 Just my two cents..... You are a 'B' licence...and only 2 months 'uncurrent' I'm sure most UK DZ's would not even bat an eyelid....so just be honest If it worries you....maybe just tell one of the Staff you are getting your knees in the breeze after a 2/12 layoff and do a solo with a highish pull( if they were going to do anything....I'm sure thats all they would say as well!!) Dont forget to go over your EP's and make abso sure your kit is coolYour going out Saturday???? 2 things....its gonna be windy this weekend and....why aint you going to the AGM???? darrenspooner 0 #3 January 20, 2005 No No NO, no wind this weekend - pleeeeeeeze. Weather forcast says 5mph northerly at Langar. I'm going, and if you say otherwise then its La La La La La La, I'm not listening. Thanks anyway
Zoter 0 #4 January 20, 2005 5mph??? Really...... la la la la la la la la ala lla lala

BBKid 0 #6 January 20, 2005 Sit on ground getting piss-wet, or get lashed? Difficult choice...I figured this one out last year! Nick --------------------------- "I've pierced my foot on a spike!!!"
Zoter 0 #7 January 20, 2005 Yeah well its gonna be windy and you wont get any jumps in............ (Zoter says sheepishly as he packs his car for the AGM ......and hides his rig under his dinner suit 'just in case' Sunday looks fine)
Dazzle 0 #8 January 20, 2005 2 months, no prob at all. Will be nice and quiet - I know Langar say they are open but who will be there!
skykittykat 0 #9 January 21, 2005 Please correct me if I am wrong, but once you are A licence through the BPA, there are no currency rules. Liz
Stumpy 284 #10 January 21, 2005 I don't know about "rules" particularly (and you may well be right) but if you turn up at a dz with an A licence and 27 jumps after a 4 year layoff (like i did!) then i would be VERY surprised if the CCI let you jump without a checkout. I had to do an AFF level (6 or 7, or a combination of the two from memory) with the possibility of a follow up if there was anything i needed to work on. As for the originator of this thread though - should be fine.Never try to eat more than you can lift
efex 0 #11 January 21, 2005 If you are going to langar, and are going to mention you havent jumped since Nov I would personally speak to one of the instructors (who will be fine with it) about this rather than the CCI. Just trying to help you avoid a million questions as I have seen him get pretty anal about this sort of thing, god knows why, as said, other dz's wouldnt even bat an eyelid. adamsr 0 #12 January 21, 2005 yeah, the CCI at Langar can be a bit arsey if he doesn't know you! Personally i've had 6 month layoffs the previous 2 winters, coz of weather and being so far away from a DZ when at uni, and the worst i have had to do is basically just do a solo first jump back. Was advised to practice reserve drills on the ground as well, but apart from that no problems. I did however go to my home dz after both layoffs, so they know me there, and know what i'm like which makes life easier
andyflylife 0 #13 January 21, 2005 Dave H (CCI at Langar) is ok really. Just catch him when he's not to harrassed! (At the bar!!!) Langar are fairly cool with that kind of layoff if you mention it anyway. DH is at the AGM this weekend anyway....aswell as me!! I think 'darrenspooner' is right about the good weather forecast though, 5mph winds and sunshine. But as its my first time at the AGM...i aint missing it!! Blue skies.....and cold beer "swooper 24/7, 365!" ME on Myspace My Project playlist
darrenspooner 0 #14 January 22, 2005 Well my doubting friend, did 2 jumps at Langar today, the second of which was over 14K. Yee haa. Thanks for the info guys. I been jumping at Langar a while now, did aff there a few years ago. But just be sure I checked out with Rich Wheatley and spoke with Milko. Have a good AGM
DZJ 0 #15 January 22, 2005 Good guys, those two - Milko did my AFF ground school and Rich flew camera on Level I.
