cloudwlking 1 #1 February 2, 2005 I apologize if I am wrong, the following listing seems extremely simple with a lack of information. Hopefully an oversight by the "new" seller. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=310&item=7131253333&rd=1 Edited by slotperfect to make the link clicky
slotperfect 7 #2 February 2, 2005 Brand new user, zero feedback, fairly high dollar item, no details in the description. If I were interested in this rig, I would have to have all the details & specs for each component. I would also ask for photos of the serial numbers so I could read them myself and do some homework to find out if it shows up on any stolen gear listing. For me this would be a high risk transaction unless I was clear on the details.Arrive Safely John
mr2mk1g 10 #3 February 2, 2005 hehe, I asked: QuoteHi there - the item looks like it has a K-pax AAD... could you confirm if this is included in the auction? Hopefully the answer will reveal if this guy's genuine...
Lindsey 0 #4 February 2, 2005 not to mention that he won't list where he is located??? Call me??? Ummm....-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail

Fast 0 #6 February 2, 2005 If you follow the link that the pictures are too you can see that there is a website with the exact same captions. There are also some pictures from skydiving in 2002 in MI and some from 2001 at Kapowsin. I would guess that the person is real, but this e-bay auction might be a scam. Further investigation would be needed.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Michele 1 #7 February 2, 2005 I was just looking at that... In the 2nd to the last picture, there seems to be a letter/bill/invoice of some type. Maybe some of you computer guys/gals can capture that picture, enlarge the part where it shows the letter, and get an address/name from it? That way, we can at least pinpoint a location, and see if there's any all-black gear with "oh shit" on the cutaway that has gone missing. I'd do it, but I'm a complete idiot when it comes to computer stuff like that. mr2mk1g 10 #8 February 2, 2005 I suspect the pictures are genuine - there's a protec and RW suit in one of them... another one has a home made pack-boy made out of a spanner and weights tied together al-la a DZ... the pictures are clearly taken in a skydiver's environ... the text though makes the seller look like a tandem pax or AFF student... The rest of the e-bay profile is highly suspicious.
GTAVercetti 0 #9 February 2, 2005 It is very hard to blow up text. It works in the movies and 24, but making clear text from pixels which are already blurry is very tough in real life. However, in the first picture you can see what looks like a A license yellow card on the shelf. I think this may be a real guy, just an idiot... or a newbie. Or an idiot newbie who stole some gear. But at the very least, I think he is a skydiver. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

mr2mk1g 10 #12 February 2, 2005 That looks like it's the owner - the jumpsuit's the same. Only outstanding question is then if that is the same guy who set up this auction. Given all the "red flags" cloudwalking could well be right... but who knows.

bch7773 0 #14 February 2, 2005 my guess is whoever wrote those descriptions and took the pictures is a skydiver... but either the auction is really badly worded and done, or its a "fake auction" thing where someone steals the pictures to make it look real. mr2mk1g 10 #16 February 2, 2005 Ok, it's a scam. I asked the question: "the item looks like it has a K-pax AAD... could you confirm if this is included in the auction?" I just got the answer: Quote yes,its included No licenced jumper is surely going to think their righ has something called a "K-pax" in it. The guy who's selling has to be a whuffo... as the real owner would appear to have at least done the odd skydive I would suggest that this guy is most likely a con-artist. IanHarrop 42 #17 February 2, 2005 I tend to agree, I sent a message asking for make/model. size and serial number for each of the main, reserve and harness/container and got back the answer... "the size it's a 190 ", that all I got. I have since sent a reply asking for the additonal details again."Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
