Superman32 0 #1 February 28, 2005 I've done 2 more great jumps today AFF 3 and 4. I had good exits and my instr. said I was rock stable and dead on headingRelax, it's definitely easier said than done. Going against that self preservation drive and stepping out of the door, makes relaxing difficult to do. On the positive side, on my last jump I've began to notice when I was tensing up and I tried to resolve it. Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches! nael 0 #2 February 28, 2005 When I was going through AFF and my B Rels (not too long ago) my instructors always told me to relax, and I thought the same as you - how can I relax while I'm falling 200km/hr towards earth?? Then on one of my jumps my instructor told me he wasnt going to let me start turning points until I smiled at him. So, we exited, I sat there for a while wondering why he wasnt giving me signals to go to the next point, then I remembered and smiled, and it was all good after that. For me, smiling helped me relax, but I guess it's different with everyone. When you finally do relax you'll feel the difference though!www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
Bdog 0 #3 February 28, 2005 for me it's not about thinking to relax. it is being relaxed. trust your equipment. trust your self. trust your instructors. if you have faith in those three things you can't help but have a great time. if you're having a great time you will be relaxed. it takes time and don't over think it. we all all screw up, don't worry about what you have done. think about what you are about to do.....enjoy. you are diffinetly not alone................................._________________________________________ ---Future Darwin Award recipient-
MarkM 0 #4 February 28, 2005 Huh, you're hurtling towards the earth at 120mph, deploying a bunch of cloth and cord a half minute from impact to save your life. Not to mention that the chute was probably packed by some guy with a hangover from last night's party and he was rushing to get you on the load. Why would you have a hard time relaxing? yarpos 4 #5 February 28, 2005 nice description of getting to the stage you can relax a bit, and a good technique by your instructor re smile or we stop. made you remember that its supposed to be fun and also maybe think about the other person in the air and flying , rather than I'm falling, I'm falling. Not so hard to relax is it.......after all, what could possibly go wrong? Steveregards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
