HydroGuy 0 #1 March 3, 2005 I did my first self-supervised skydive yesterday. It was weird having no instructor around. No one to yell altitudes to. No one to play cat and mouse with. Just no one period. So i just kicked back and enjoyed the scenery. I had never done a tandem jump, so this was the first time I ever just relaxed, looked around and checked things out. And I fell through a cloud...that was pretty cool as well.Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
Smeger 0 #2 March 3, 2005 Awesome, nice one dude. I did a tandem one morning, twilight and complete cloud cover. If there is a heaven then thats what I reckon it looks like . One of the most incredible sights I've ever seen. Also, we opened just above the cloud cover, only to spot a large hole in the cloud. Looked a bit like the eye of a hurricane, so we circled around inside it, that was awesome as well lol. So how many jumps did it take to pass your AFF in the end? Did you have any trouble in a particular area that a newbie like me would suffer from?
Jeth 0 #3 March 3, 2005 Congrats, thats awesome! I'm in AFP, the program is 20 jumps, so I have a ways to go before I get to jump completely solo. I have heard it feels like you're up there forever. It'll be cool to not have any "objectives", though. I can't wait to get there myself! (Also so my friends will stop asking me when I'm gonna graduate! )"At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." Jeth 0 #7 March 4, 2005 Quote20 Jumps? My AFP program is 3 tandems + 7AFP + 5 coached. All others are solos until the grad. Yep. It is basically 2 tandems + 8 core jumps + 10 coach jumps (more advanced RW & freefly). But you have to go through the whole program before you are off student status. All jumps are with 1 instructor. But the nice thing is when you graduate you have met all requirements and are only 5 jumps away from your A! I'm halfway there, only 9 more levels to go! GTAVercetti 0 #8 March 4, 2005 Our AFF program is ~20 jumps with 5 extra jumps to get to the A license. That is following the ISP. And HydroGuy, you fell through INDUSTRIAL HAZE. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
HydroGuy 0 #9 March 4, 2005 I took AFF from Jim Wallace out of Perris. I had taken some AFF courses several years previously, so I got to skip a couple. The standard course is 8 jumps. I didn't have too many problems. I did 5 minutes in the wind tunnel prior to AFF 4. At first I was skeptical that this was just a way to milk me out of 160 bucks. I was mistaken. The wind tunnel helped me immeasurably. The confined area gives you perspective to your movement in the air. And yes, it was a cloud of industrial haze I fell through...my badGet in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
sd-slider 0 #10 March 7, 2005 QuoteAnd yes, it was a cloud of industrial haze I fell through... I myself did my 3rd self instructed solo today through said haze.... QuoteI was skeptical that this was just a way to milk me out of 160 bucks. I was mistaken. I used the tunnel between 3 and 4 as well. It was a great tool for muscle-memory and most of all....confidence! Great job!Anvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... Back2Back slammers and 40yr old fat guys don't mix!
