Adriandavies 0 #1 March 21, 2005 Is anyone out there particularly politically minded and aware of what the British political parties have in store during the upcoming election? If so has anyone heard about the Conservative Party's plan to add tax to aviation fuel? They are proposing a tax of £200 or EUR$308 per tonne? Does anyone want to hazard a guess how much jump tickets will increase by if they are successful in getting this into law? By the way this is a pan European proposal so it won't just be us Brits who will be affected. How much fuel does a Caravan use per load? Does anyone know if this proposal is for general aviation or will it only apply to airlines?
samhussey 0 #2 March 21, 2005 Ive been unable to find out who will be affected by it if it passes, but Id hazard a guess at the worst case scenario. Thankfully they have about as much chance as a snowflake in hell of being elected, but it might be worth looking at what Tony'll do, cos he's trying to appear environmentally conscious at the moment as well.... n0gear 0 #3 March 22, 2005 In Finland price of the fuel is going to go up sharply in couple of years and people are desperately trying to find alternatives for this. I heard they are seriously testing Diesel Engine for small aircrafts. Someone who currently lives and jumps in Finland could probably comment/amend this info more. Merkur 1 #4 March 22, 2005 There was a discussion about this some weeks ago in one of the forums (to lazy to search for it). It's a topic in some other European countries (like Germany and France) too but to get effective it has to be approved by all EU- member countries and at least three or four are totally against it so it - hopefully - will take some years till everybody agrees on it.
