jdfreefly 1 #1 April 5, 2005 Going to go jump somewhere far from home? Now, with google's new satelite images added to maps.google.com, just type in the name or address of where you are going, and check out the landing area ahead of time! http://maps.google.com/maps?q=skydive+crosskeys&ll=39.707100,-75.034990&sll=39.708557,-75.030108&spn=0.010278,0.015836&sspn=0.029236,0.058375&t=k&hl=en Methane Freefly - got stink? flyangel2 2 #2 April 5, 2005 It's still a good idea to walk the landing area. I've jumped at Cross Keys for big way events, and that landing area tends to get tight with all those canopies landing at the same time. A few times I've gone over to the other side by the runway to keep my self safe.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. - Edward Abbey

Buried 0 #4 April 5, 2005 doesn't work for sdc - nor at that resolution. You need to look up ottawa, il and then search around the river Where is my fizzy-lifting drink?
BikerBabe 0 #5 April 5, 2005 Works awesome for Perris! But the images are old...the tunnel isn't there! Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
Zenister 0 #6 April 5, 2005 QuoteWorks awesome for Perris! But the images are old...the tunnel isn't there! Eloy looks fairly recent ... swoop ponds, and a hole in the ground for the tunnel so its less than i year old i'd guess... empty parking lot... must have been a slow weekday.. would be funny to see canopies on a shot or two...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. kelpdiver 2 #7 April 5, 2005 these maps have long been available, but usually not at the resolution or the image size that Google is providing. I was stitching together 6-8 smaller images to get 900x900 pixels. Only downside here is the google watermarking. Some are definitely better than others. Monterey Bay is lousy. Elsinore is one of the sharpest.
adamsr 0 #8 April 5, 2005 we've had this in the uk for a while, but with ariel photos of the entire UK. got a cool feature as well, when you move your mouse over the ariel photo it shows an overlay of the street map so it's easier to pick out features when not zoomed in http://multimap.co.uk/map/photo.cgi?client=public&X=356372&Y=336641&gride=&gridn=&scale=25000&coordsys=gb&db=GB&lang=&mapsize=big that is my home dz
Superman32 0 #9 April 6, 2005 That aerial of xkeys is much better (and it looks pretty recent) than the one they use for instruction Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!

adamsr 0 #11 April 6, 2005 that's the only thing about multimap, as it's done by ariel photos it's quite a long job to fly a plane over every inch of the country, so it's only for the UK at the mo. and they can provide higher quality pictures if you ask for them, you have to pay though. still it's a pretty good system
ernguru 0 #12 April 6, 2005 Here's my club Hinton Skydiving Centre http://multimap.co.uk/map/photo.cgi?client=public&X=454181&Y=237187&width=500&height=310&gride=454181&gridn=237187&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=&pc=NN13+5NS&zm=1&scale=25000
AndyMan 7 #13 April 6, 2005 The photos for illinois suck. Chicagoland Skydiving Center is barely visible... And Skydive Chicago doesn't even exist. It seems the photos predate the DZ. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
