1st Jump on my own pack!

Recommended Posts

I had an incredible weekend at skydive wayne county (Richmond). Just Rediculus.

I learned to pack tandems and watched my 1st tandem pack open from the tarmac!

Jumped my own packjob for the first time after loads of practice IAD from a turbo porter. I've never had door fear but the door nervous was in full swing! I have to say that knowing that I packed my chute and it opened perfectly is one of the most fulfilling accomplishments that I have been able to expierence! Making my menuvers before opening was also huge! As well as knowing my my tandem pack opened well for the crew... just an amazing feeling. Packed a couple tandems this weekend and w/ the DZ's OK I feel very confident about my work. Learning to pack has been really rewarding.

I can't wait for the summer, as I will be packing at SWC every weekend and lurking around during the week. Everyone there was awesome and they convinced me to stay the night and jump again on Sunday.

I would reccomend to anyone who wants to get into the sport to learn how to pack ASAP because, through practice and repetition, I have much more confidence in the gear knowing exactly how it operates than I did when I made my 1st two jumps.

Anyway, to close out this pointless post I just wanna say thanks to everyone at SWC (especially Stratostar and the DZO) for making my weekend KICK A$$! 2 more jumps and then I get my delays!

Mother's gonna be pissed 'cuz I'm HOOKED!

I looked at that, it is a cut-away for the BOC. It has the yellow cutaway lines attached to that red handle and (although I didn't pull it) it seems to be an alternet deployment for the PC if you have a lost/floating handle. The container is a 'sweet-hog'

Isn't that cutaway handle for the reserve side AFF instructor on a student rig?

EDIT TO ADD:
The next post says:

it might be misleading to call it a cutaway handle, it opens up the BOC so that the left side guy can deploy the main.

I guess what I meant by cutaway is that it cuts away the spandex pouch that holds the PC - thus releasing it into the wind... I see how "cutaway" is a misleading term.:o

People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

Whats hanging out side the bottom left of your rig?

it is used for AFF instructors......that way if for some reason the instructor on the main side gets lost on exit, is to floty, to heavy, or is just not paying attention...the instructor on the reserve side can deploy the students main.
