Student video's at your DZ....

If so is it non-copyrighted music or any mainstream music?

It's one thing for me to put a video together with copyrighted music and try to sell it to the world (can you say I'm setting myself up for trouble). But I see no harm in putting copyrighted music on some tandem's own personal video. Who's going to see the video? Friends and family that's who. Sure both practices may be technically wrong, but do we always have to follow "The Mans" rules? Oh and I have created a series of video with copyrighted music on it. But I didn't sell my videos. I gave them away.

I agree with you... The student is buying the video for the video footage.(just 1.... not huge quantities) The music just adds to the footage AND gives the artist more exposer. I know when I hear certain songs on the radio, I always think about the video that went with it....If fact I've bought a large amount of cd's because I heard the song on a skydiving video!!

I think bands would start looking like big jack-asses if they started suing people for putting their music on their personal skydive/wedding/porn videos.

Whether you sell the videos or give them away is irrelevent. Its still copyright infringement.

But has anyone heard of someone getting in trouble for using copyrighted music on a skydiving video?
