PhreeZone 20 #1 May 19, 2005 Looks like we as skydivers have once again been deemed as an uninsurable group, this time for balloon jumps. I recent contacted a few balloon pilots about the possibility of doing balloon jumps at some point with them and I recieved this reply from one of them: "I am sorry to say that my insurance carrier will not allow skydiving. As a matter of course, there are only 2 carriers in the U.S. and neither one will allow "jumpers". I have even been informed that if it is discovered that a pilot has permitted any type of jumping from their balloon they will not be insurable in the future." Anyone know if there is truth behind that and if so are balloon jumps now possibly headed towards the wayside also due to increasing insurance costs and risks to the balloonists?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
