Kuper 0 #1 June 19, 2005 i'd like to ask something: is there any part in the rules of USPA for the nationals, about family realationship between a competitor and a judge? thanx and blues! Ori.http://www.orikuper.printroom.com
darkwing 5 #2 June 20, 2005 I'm pretty sure there isn't anything explicity about family relationships in the rules. You can't cover all possible biases in the rules, all you can do is make clear the expectation of unbiased judging. I suspect that in the history of judging sports, family relationships are among the least of the biasing factors. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
Kuper 0 #3 June 20, 2005 Quote Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. yeh... that's what i thought before the nationals, but was in shock after they told me that the judge's son got the 2nd place. most of the people who watched his jumps (before the judgment), and me among them said it wasn't good... plus the fact that there was only 1 judge - and here we got the result. i got the 3rd, by the way - and i really like the son, but he was bad... it was 2 month ago, and we kind of forgot it. but i don't want anyone to be hurt next years. that's why i asked...http://www.orikuper.printroom.com

Are you saying that during a Nationals meet there was only one judge for what you had entered? Does this judge have their judge rating?May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. Kuper 0 #5 June 20, 2005 yup, and yup. and he is also the father of 2 of the competitors. that's why for next year the association wants to bring or add another international judge (and i want them to set a rule about that father judge...).http://www.orikuper.printroom.com

flyangel2 2 #8 June 20, 2005 QuoteWere you talking about the Israeli Nationals? Now things are getting clear. Kuper, instead of making us all guess what you are talking about, just spell it out. I think things work different in Israeli then they do here in the U.S. I guess next time I need to look at the profile of the posterMay your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. upndownshop 0 #9 June 20, 2005 I was camera man for a 4 way team at the 2000 nationals while my mother was one of the judges. There was never any mention of it being a problem. Of course we came in like 39 out of 43 so who would complain. I dont think there are any rules for that. Interesting question though.
Kuper 0 #10 June 20, 2005 Now things are getting clear. I think things work different in Israeli then they do here in the U.S. that is the problem! it doesn't have to be diffrent! we want to make the sport's situation better here, and to bring it to an international level, and though we still have sometimes those 'tiny' problems... the fact that it's in Israel or any other place in the world, doesn't have to affect normal judgement rules. my opinion...http://www.orikuper.printroom.com
