schuey87 0 #1 June 25, 2005 I'm a student on the RAPs course in the UK, have done 8 jumps so far, including 2 successfull 5 second freefalls, on two seperate occasions. My last jump was 17 June, so just over a week ago, was hoping to go and do my first 10 second freefall tomorrow, but it's looking like I'm not going to be able to... which means the 1st opportunity I'm gonna get is probably going to be 30 June, so thats 13 days between jumps. How likely is it I'll get dropped back to DRPs or 5 second freefalls and not be able to do the 10 sec delay straight away with that sort of time gap? freeflyimpaired 0 #2 June 25, 2005 Weather holds are always a problem for students, and there will be many weekends where you will be unable to jump. That in mind, as long as your other jumps went well, I don't think they would hold you back after just 13 days, but you would need to talk to you instructor to be sure. At my dropzone its 30 days and you'll have to go through a retrain after 90 day you may have to go back to the static line. Joe. flyangel2 2 #3 June 27, 2005 A few things that I use to consider before letting a student advance if they were pass the required time frame. Has the student been out every weekend trying to jump and was put on weather holds? How well did the student do on the previous jumps. You'll need to take to the instructors at your DZ to find out what they want to do for you. Each DZ is different.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. Chards 0 #4 June 28, 2005 13 days is not much of a layoff really, as long as you are comfortable with your drills - I had a few weeks between one jump and another. Although every DZ is different (I've not jumped at Langar), they will most probably just give you a standard refresh and get you to practise your EPs.
