PPP big way things

Recommended Posts

We're into day 3 of the PPP big way things at Perris. 40 or so jumpers, primarily 4 way competitors, are doing 16 to 40 ways that are designed to be _hard._ Infacing points are rare, and most dives have a lot of no-contact flying. We tried a 20 way compressed accordion today (one long one) and got everyone in, but someone in the center tracked off before the final grip got taken.

Tomorrow we're doing 38 way sequential, and if today was any indication, at least half the people on the dive will be backing in. Should be fun.

Today we did some of the toughest dives I've ever done. All 36 ways with at least half the people outfacing. We did this absurd double parallel 18-way Hope diamonds with leg locks between the two 18-ways, and it worked - despite the fact that about half the people on the dive couldn't see what was going on.

Yesterday we did a 'windmill' dive that looked bizarre but sounded like fun. We got it twice but the second point (involving spinning 3-way compressed accordions) eluded us. During the second jump we had it flying perfectly for a few seconds, more than long enough for a few stills. Tony froze the video, and we all had the same thought simultaneously - "Wow, that's a swastika." We quickly moved on to the next dive.

Are there any pictures? I've been to the Perris Valley website, but no one is doing any kind of work on the photo page. The pictures they have there are old[:/]

Patience people, patience.

Ya make 24 big-way jumps ya end up with a bajillion pictures and it takes hours just to sort through them.

Normally this isn't an issue because all you really want to put up are completion shots, but holy carp, these guys where getting multiple point completions on just about every jump.

I'm uploading photos to my web site as I type this and will still need to do a bit of work there to make them right, but photos should be available by noonish Perris time.

Edited to update

Dang it. LOTS of people must have taken Fourth of July weekend photos and Shutterfly is bogged down to near unusability right now. Photos will -hopefully- be available a little later in the day, but right now it doesn't look like I'm going to make my selfimposed deadline of noonish PDT.

All I have are video captures from my belly mount. Quade, Don and Craig should have some good shots. Craig also shot HD video and film on a few dives. There's a very funny shot of Andi exiting the plane "doing the egyptian."

Yeah... what the media-hog said... Pictures.

What a shock! I won't be in any of the pictures, and I'm asking for them to be posted:ph34r:
