BillyVance 35 #1 July 19, 2005 Sandy, has it been exactly 7 years since you left us? Sometimes it feels like yesterday when you crossed over to touch the face of God. Thousands of us were affected by your loss, as evident in the nationwide memorial dives held in your honor and chronicled at www.skydivethepoint.com/history/SandyWambach.asp. Time has healed the pain and grief, but the sense of loss will always be there. You are always in our hearts. Until we meet again on the other side... happythoughts 0 #3 July 20, 2005 For people who only read the first line of a post: Sandy was a better skydiver than most people will ever be and she was knocked unconscious in a freefall collision. An AAD might have saved her life. (rant over) One month before she died, she was the organizer of a Georgia state record attempt. 100 people. She had a contagious energy. That weekend I learned that I couldn't really swoop (diving to a formation) as good as I thought I could. I also learned that I couldn't track that well either (after watching DD Barkley do what appeared to be twice my speed). I also learned that enthusiasm and a positive attitude can make a hard task easier.
BillyVance 35 #4 July 20, 2005 Quote One month before she died, she was the organizer of a Georgia state record attempt. 100 people. She had a contagious energy. That she did... If I remember right, she held the GA 100 ways in May 1998 (I was there), then the New Jersey 101 ways at Cross Keys in June (I was there too, breaking my arm on the last attempt). She had given me one of the last slots on her team for the 300 ways the fall before. I had to give it up to someone else. Two weeks before she died, she personally sent me a get well card, saying she'll need me on her big ways that fall. Then she was gone... She was definitely one of a kind. We'll never see another one like her again, not in my lifetime...
