justchrisdsp 0 #1 August 12, 2005 what the crap was up with the music at rantoul, no offense but when i am getting psyched up to make a jump i would like to hear something other than "when i think about you i touch myself" and other like songs. it was like a country music festival with skydiving in the background, i was just really dissapointed. i was also dissapointed at the poor turnout from some of the manufacturers in this sport. just wondering if anyone else noticed the same things The only bad skydive is your last! chris "sonic wookie" harwell Piedra-belluda-roja Rodriguez
billvon 3,116 #2 August 12, 2005 Simple answer - get an iPod, load it with 11 days worth of music, and give it to them for a week. They'd probably be happy to have it.

kelel01 1 #5 August 12, 2005 The manufacturers can't afford to be there anymore. The vendor fees are getting higher and higher . . . or so I heard. Also, since turnout's getting lower and lower, it's becoming increasingly less attractive to the vendors to go. Lower turnout + higher cost to attend = bye-bye vendors . . . understandably. JohnRich 4 #6 August 12, 2005 Quotewhat the crap was up with the music at rantoul... This is true at many DZs. You have a varied crowd on-hand of all ages and great diversity in music taste. But the kid behind the counter where the CD player resides is the one that gets to choose. Thus, what I usually have to listen to is that screaming punk rock shit. You have to learn to tune it out, or go outside and pack.
gemini 0 #7 August 12, 2005 Depends on your age too. I thought the music was great, until the evening bands fired up. The live bands were so loud a lot of us left it to the kids. Blue skies, Jim

skywade 0 #17 August 14, 2005 Don needs to hire some new bands. I refused to attend WFFC this year because every band under the tent has to play that damn song "Mustang Sally". I have actually wrote a complaint about this on the comment section of the yearly WFFC questionnaire. It didn't do any good as the bands still play it. MikeForsythe 0 #18 August 14, 2005 That's funny, it is because Don has bands play Mustang Sally that I go every year!Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
skywade 0 #19 August 15, 2005 Hey Mike, it's o.k. that you and everyone else likes that tune. My comments were more about the lack of variety in the bands that play the convention. It seems like they all share the same set list. Maybe the problem is that I have attended too many freefall conventions and need to find a new boogie to attend. justchrisdsp 0 #20 August 15, 2005 i think the problem is that every year the wffc is the same and people feel that they do need to attend other boogies, maybe there is something we as the skydivers who come to these events can do to spice it up, get the vendors back in it but more importantly get the skydivers back in it. any suggestions? Dougjumper 0 #21 August 15, 2005 Sounds like you all need to PARTY with the Rodriguez Bro's more often. Plus the Band that was supposed to play SAT night well- Hell they wound up going to the old place where we used to have the Convention. No Sh*T Quincy instead of Rantoul. Someone asked where are all the Skydivers at and some voice said they are clear across the Damn State..Oh well.. Go figure..dont know if they ever showed up. I turned in about 12ish.
