Saw a few PD113 landings and landed a Techno155 once and a PD360(tandemreserve) a couple of times without problems. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
riggerrob 643 #27 August 15, 2005 The primary reason I bought my Amigo 172 reserve was that I was allowed to test jump an Amigo 206 reserve. The Amigo 206 flew so much like a Sabre Mark I that I was sold! The last thing I wanted was a reserve that handled significantly different than my main. A friend deployed my Amigo 172 a few years back and - jokingly - complained about it not flying like his Stiletto. I also deployed that Amigo 172 and was relieved that it flew much like my Sabre, just needed a full-pull to flare.
chopchop 0 #28 August 15, 2005 QuoteI would if I could get a PDR193 to demo. The local gear shop offers PD reserve demos up through 176 ft, which is really too small for me. I suppose I could send away to PD for a demo model, but it seems like a hassle. Besides, from what I've seen of PD reserve landings, they're just GREAT. And the 193 is supposedly actually 200 sq ft, which is only 10 sq ft smaller than my Pilot main. So I'm not worrying about it either. Hey Tom, I've jumped your PD193R a few times.. It flies great!! chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures

If the process for getting a demo reserve is the same as getting a main, it's not a hassle at all. I got a main from them last week and all I had to do was fill out the form online and reply to an email. They even included the return shipping label with it. I was happy to have that experience when I finally needed to use my reserve._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... A couple of years ago Betsy Barnhouse had posed this question, and I commented that I would really like to try one, as my reserve is somewhat loaded. OK, for a reserve, it's heavily loaded. I decided to get a demo, and planned to call PD for it the next Monday. That very weekend I had to use it, on my first night jump. So much for getting a demo! Demo your reserve people! I got to fly mine for the first time in the dark. Trust me, that's NOT the time to figure out how it flys and flares. It's your life, live it!
