b744 0 #1 April 26, 2004 I am a 17 year old Private Pilot and I find it ridiculous that I can fly a plane but not jump out of one. I am a student at a major aeronautical university and live on my own so I am independant of my parents. My buddies want to try a tandem jump and I would would like to go with them. I understand that I need to be 18 to sign a waiver. Would my ID be requested from the skydive school before signing a waiver?
nightjumps 1 #2 April 26, 2004 Yes, ID's are checked. I lost two tandems yesterday because they were under 18. As a Private Pilot, you would make for a great AFF student. You've already got landing patterns down. Consider finding an Accelerated Freefall Dropzone and making your first jump this weekend.
AndyMan 7 #3 April 26, 2004 Yes. ID's are checked consistently. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
riggerrob 643 #4 April 30, 2004 Since waivers are only valid if signed by someone over the age of majority (usually 18) DZs routinely "card" younger students. You can thank the accursed liability lawyers for this policy.
