My brother's friend called to confirm a tandem reservation at Skydive Las Vegas and they told him they are "shut down, with no scheduled re-open date."

Anyone know why? I did a search and I don't see anything on their website.

who cares. good riddance.

We could make up rumors....

I heard one of those giant worms, like in the movie "Tremors", popped up out of the desert earth and swallowed the plane whole!

I was wondering what farted metal parts into my back yard...

It is a factory. The wifey wife and I were in Vegas (she was jumping then) and I had done my homework (or so I thought) and called ahead from home to find out if we as AFF students could get a jump while we were in Vegas. They told us yes no problem just bring your logbook. When we arrived at the DZ we were told All we could do was a tandem jump. They picked us up on the strip and I thought that was cool but after the jump it was hurry up hurry up hurry up if you want to buy a T-Shirt, or etc cause the van is leaving. We did no instructor/student debrief or anything. There was a new van load of folks arriving as we left. Coming from a DZ where they want you to learn I said to myself "Im never coming back here again."

Hey Nate...you're supposed to be coming up with rumors...not facts ;)

They picked you up on the Strip. Took you to a mine shaft. Told you that free fall involved a deep cavern and pushed you off a ledge and down into the shaft.

While you were in the shaft, they emptied your wallet.

Come on Nate - get with the program.

They got behind on the gravity bill and it was turned off. Their 182 could make it to altitude in 3 minutes
but when the people jumped, they just hung there in the air. They had to wait until it got dark, covertly
attach a hose to the neighbor's gravity well, and run the hose over to the landing area to get the jumpers
down.

I heard they were selling tandems off the Stratosphere tower. NPS classified the landing area as park land and, well, the rest is history.

Oh well, no info out there.

I'm guessing it's because nobody really cares. :D It wasn't a boogie dz or one that catered to experienced jumpers. It still would be interesting to know if they closed due to legal problems, $ problems, the DZO just wanted to take a long vacation, etc.

Oh, look: They offer "FREE ground training!" How generous! :D

This whole thread had turned into preposterous rumors. I was just having fun with it. Yes. Joke.
