grue 1 #1 October 8, 2005 Going from a Raven IV (~280sqft 7cell F-111 square) to a Fusion (210sqft 9cell ZP semi-elliptical) has made me realise that freefall isn't the only fun part of the sport What a friggin' BLAST! It's responsive as hell, turns quickly, has endless flare, but does all of this without being overwhelming, though I have to admit I overflared a little on the first landing. It planed out for a couple dozen feet, and started climbing! cavete terrae.

mdrejhon 8 #6 October 9, 2005 I'm lighter weight than you are (Sabre 170), but when I got off the Manta's and onto Sabre's, I realized I really enjoy the canopy flight too. I did 288->230->190->170 before buying my rig at jump 59. And oh, be careful with that canopy at 1.2 WL. Even though landings are lighter with a good flare, and you're a big guy (1.2 WL at 250lbs is typically MUCH safer than 1.2 WL at 125lbs for the same canopy model) an error such as a panic low turn or a royally messed-up flare, will be far less forgiving! It only gets better from here for the people with patience and/or people with proper motivation. JohnMitchell 16 #8 October 9, 2005 Nice change in canopy. What's your new wingloading? How are you at braked, flat turns? Just want to make sure the next 200 hundred jumps are all great experiences.

Elisha 1 #10 October 10, 2005 My prior 4 jumps (before yesterday) were on a Pilot 140 I demoed at a boogie. Then jumping my old Sabre 150 all my turns seemed damn slow by comparison! But I think the windy conditions contributed....like making almost no progress on my first jump yesterday on final against high-teen mph winds. ick.
