incode 0 #1 October 13, 2005 took the day off yesterday to go and do my stage 6, wow it was insain, went to picton at 7am was dark and gloomie weather, lots of cloud from 2,500 to 9,000. this was my first solo exit i screwed up my exit count and my instructor jumped befor i did so i jumped and fast fell down to him, made a few 360's and docked a few times, i felt very stable more than any other jump, as we came through the cloud it got very dark and wet my goggles filled with water and i checked my alti 4,000 turned away and pulled, as i opened i souldnt see anything then i started to spin around and around but couldnt see what was going on due to all the water lol. I pulled the goggles off and looked up and found i had a big set of line twists with a line over, colapsed end cels and my slider was up, so i grabed my risers and kicked like F*%k got tyhe twists out then flaired as hard as i could and all was good. Made a very nice landing and was very cery happy with my jump first mal was a great experiance. the best jump i have done so far. Im realy looking forward to the weekend because i should be finishing my aff
Witelli 0 #2 October 13, 2005 I'm glad your jump went OK. I just can't believe they let students jump through clouds at your DZ. How were you able to check your altitude with water filled goggles? That's pretty scary, and with a lineover. Sounds like you had your hands full. Anyway, good luck with your progression.
incode 0 #3 October 13, 2005 was a little hard but i just had to realy look at my alti for a few seconds it was ok the thing that scaired me the most was that when i got the goggles off and looked up i yelled out F%$k yeah then realised what had happened and was like.... oh S*$t hahaha it was fun and a realy good learning expeiance
nael 0 #4 October 13, 2005 Nice job on the jump! I jump at Picton also. Are you sure you had a lineover? I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know lineovers are near impossible to clear. For those reading this worried about jumping through cloud, Picton ( in Australia) has special clearance to jump through clouds, which is great - until you hit ice and sleet! hehe I did a jump last year on my birthday in pretty yuck weather (but I really wanted to do it anyway, because it was my birthday!). Under canopy I passed through some snow, then rain, I couldnt see much of anything and it was freezing! Was glad to land and not go up again that day!www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
incode 0 #5 October 13, 2005 thanks yeah i like the cloud its fun but cold and i was not waring gloves so my hands froze when i tried to grab my toggles lol. As for the line over i think thats what it was where a line is tangled over the top of the canopy right at the edge near the end cells, i think thats why i started to spiral but i could be wrong
OSOK 0 #6 October 13, 2005 How did you clear the lineover? Weren't you thought to cut it away?
incode 0 #7 October 13, 2005 after getting the twists out the line looked very close to the edge of the canopy so i flaired hard and held it again untill i stalled then droped a few feet and it cleared :D
