moth 0 #1 October 14, 2005 what about when you lend a friend your rig and he/she has a mal and loses your main whoo pay for the lost main and repack?
Elisha 1 #2 October 14, 2005 The friend - they took the risk. They could've repacked it if they didn't trust the pack job.

davelepka 4 #4 October 14, 2005 If you loan your rig to a friend, they will replace what they lose or fix what they break. If you loan your rig to a "friend" they will agrue the situation, point fingers, and in general give you a hard time.
mr2mk1g 10 #5 October 14, 2005 Standard agreement between friends on borrowing anything round here is "you break it you buy it". ie - if you break it, loose it, trash it, get it nicked, damage it or whatever - you pay for it to be replaced or repaired. It's so commonplace it goes without saying - everyone just expects those are the rules. That's certainly how it works round here anyway.
tbrown 26 #6 October 14, 2005 Well, if your friend still wants to be friends, they shuld pay. You have to work it out with them. Sorry for what sounds like a real bummer... Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !

moth 0 #9 October 14, 2005 that good then im due a reserve repack so i will pack a lineover and lend my rig to my friend. hey presto free repack i know it sounds a bit harsh but £35.00 is a lot of money (2 jumps)
hookitt 1 #10 October 14, 2005 Brilliant!!! Though a line over could damage the canopy. Pack it with line twists and one toggle unstowed. That should do nicely. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
moth 0 #11 October 14, 2005 good point but what if they kick out the twists? (too bad to think about) no this calls for a total. I will disconect the pc from the bridal, and then there is no chance of losing the main also they will have to buy me a new pc (mine is getting old as it is) WHAT A PLAN!!! darkwing 5 #12 October 14, 2005 If I borrow a rig from a friend, I assume the same responsibility as if it were my rig. As mentioned above, If I jump their pack job I assume the risk as if I had packed it myself. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

cutaway1 3 #18 October 15, 2005 Hey moth, next time you are making a joke, you should announce it as a joke, instead of provoking serious, thoughtful responces, then undermining them by making a joke of your serious question.SCR-

Did you think something was wrong or did you do it on principal? I wouldn't have probably bothered. Just spot for the freebag. It was two things. I wanted the issue to be clear if I had a mal (out of principle as you say). The other reason was more pragmatic. I wanted to know what kind of openings I would get out of this canopy, not what someone else might get. In fact this whole issue makes me hesitant to lend my rig to people. I have never been asked, but it would probably depend a lot on the person asking.HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde... JohnMitchell 16 #20 October 17, 2005 If you're ever jumping demos from the PD tour, don't sweat the pack job. I also borrow rigs from riggers. I don't worry too much about those. But really, with over 13 reserve rides, I really don't mind anyone's packjob. But yes, looking in the forest for all your crap sucks.
peregrinerose 0 #21 October 18, 2005 I've been the one borrowing rigs as I demoed a few canopies while deciding on what to buy. The plan was definitely 'you damage it, it's yours'. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
GimliGeorge 0 #22 October 18, 2005 Definately the borrowers responsibility, if you hurt a main, lose a handle (even their pud handle) you replace it. As soon as you can. If they intentionally give you a mal CHARGE THEM WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER!!!
