hongkongluna 0 #1 October 26, 2005 Does anyone here have long term care insurance? I've gotten quotes for Term Life Insurance, 250K benefit which I'll sign up for but what if, God forbid, I have an accident skydiving & dont die & need care in my home for 5 years. That would suck more than dying IMO. Now that i think about it, I dont see too many incident reports where people survive a bounce, so why get long term care ins anyway ? - its expensive too, between 1-3 k per year depending on coverage term, monthly benefit, etc. Your thoughts and info would be appreciated.-Rainier Sparks Brother #1 // "I vaguely heard someone yell "wait!" but by that point i was out the door." I know of two quadraplegics and two paraplegics. All four of them walked to the airplane. Going in with nothing out is not the only way to fuck yourself up in this sport. mr2mk1g 10 #3 October 26, 2005 My standard holiday medical cover will pay out for injuries I have at home (UK) and gives me a lump sum payout for any major disabilities. QuoteI dont see too many incident reports where people survive a bounce, "Bounces" are by far not the major cause of injuries. Most serious injuries are botched landings, either high performance, avoidance maneuvers or simply screwed up. Every jumper falls into this risk bracket. mailin 0 #4 October 26, 2005 Can't the same insurance be used for something that is far more likely to happen? such as a car accident? Most of those insurance plans don't cover skydiving anyway - be sure to read the fine print. JenArianna Frances

JENNR8R 0 #6 October 26, 2005 One month before I did my first tandem I applied for long-term care insurance. They asked things like: What are your hobbies? At the time, I truthfully answered gardening. I was approved for the lower preferred premiums. Applying for the insurance and doing the tandem were totally unrelated. I knew that I was going to do a tandem for my birthday, but that hardly qualified as a hobby since I had no intention of doing any more than one jump. That was two years ago. The insurance is extremely expensive for anyone that does any kind of risky behavior. Fortunately, once I was approved, the insurance company cannot raise the premiums. My policy covers any activity except 'acts of war.'What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy ones? -- Monday.
