Selective memory?

Recommended Posts

Hey,

For some reason, remembering what is said in skydiving - like instructions from the JM or just little tips or even just random conversations is far more easier than say, learning schoolwork or rememerbing other things outside of skydiving.

Doesn't make sense really - remembering a quick tip in that compared to say major advice on how to not do something in another context?

Anyone else ever found the same? Is it because skydivers and students attach a lot more importance to skydiving than to say, the average conversation with a whuffo?

Different students learn by different methods.
Military students tend to suck up whatever they HEAR.
I remember what I READ in textbooks.
Riggers are tactile learners who only remember what they can FEEL.
Visual learners only retain what they SEE.
Mathematical learners remember NUMBERS.
Geometry majors remember ANGLES.
Nasal learners only retain what they SMELL.
Babies only remember what they TASTE.

The best instructors tailor their instruction to match the student's learning style.

And remember -- pain reinforces the learning experience :P:o

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

If you really want to know learning styles....

Activists,
Pragmatists,
Theorists & Reflectors,

If your interested in psychology stuff check out this

But personally I think you just take the details in more because its a topic you enjoy. You are engaging in active listening rather than it all in one ear and out the other.
