While we would advocate dealing directly with the dropzones and likely would have cost you less, you've already made the purchase. If the DZ won't accept them, different story. CanuckInUSA 0 #7 November 17, 2005 I agree with Kelpdiver here ... unless they are charging you an extra arm and a leg above the normal $160ish to $200ish for a tandem skydive (not counting video), then go enjoy your jump and report back to us on your experience. I assure you that your jump will be nothing like anything you've ever experienced before. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
Superman32 0 #8 November 17, 2005 Call the DZ and see if they accept the certificate. If they do , WTF, just doooo it. If they don't accept it or it's too far away, or you feel you have been wronged by them call your credit card comp. and give them your ischipeel. Is wronged a word? Thanatos340 1 #14 November 18, 2005 If you have already bought the Certificates.. Go Jump. Have fun and don’t worry about it. There is nothing wrong with any of the Dropzones that accept Skyride. They are separate Businesses. (Except for ASC, Pell City and Pennridge which are owned by Skyride and Even those are Safe operations with highly qualified Staff. It is just their Business practices that everyone is upset about). If Skyride was honest with you and the Dropzone they send you to really does accept Skyride, Dont let it bother you. Go and have fun. You probably paid more then you would have if you went through the DZ directly but it will probably not be worth the headache and hassle to try to get a Refund. Go jump and next time go directly through whatever Dropzone you choose to jump at. Dont let this experience give you a bad taste for skydiving in general. Most companies and Dropzones are pretty honest and straight forward operations. You just happened to run into the Bad Apple in the bunch. Welcome to the Sport. mr2mk1g 10 #15 November 18, 2005 You should abide by the terms and conditions of the your contract. If you entered a contract which said no refunds - sorry, no refund. If you entered one which provided for penalties for cancellations at short notice - sorry, cancelling things at short notice causes problems - you're gonna get penalized. However, if you feel that you've been fraudulently miss-sold the tickets through such deceptive means as Skyride claiming to be an actual dropzone in a specific location when they are only an agent or where no DZ actually exists in that location then you should contact them to resolve the issue without being forced to pay for their attempt to defraud you. If Skyride is not amenable to resolving the issue, try filing a report with the BBB and if that doesn't work then I'm afraid you will probably have to look for a lawyer. You may also wish to contact any local law enforcement agencies that might actually give a damn about this kind of white collar crime. I recomend though that you go jump if you can - you'll have a blast.
bmcd308 0 #16 November 18, 2005 Why do you want your money back? If skyride is doing what they are supposed to do (setting you up with a place to jump that is an acceptable to you distance away) then go do the jump and have a great time. You will read lots of negative stuff on this site about skyride. There is widespread belief that they use unethical business practices and that they do not deliver on what they promise. However, if in your specific case they do deliver - and by that, I mean that they send you to a dz that does take their certificates and that is actually in the geographic area where they led you to believe it would be, then they have done their part. If they have done their part, then enjoy the skydives you bought. For many of the people on this site, our first skydives were life-changing events that have led to a new sport, new friends, unique and fantastic experiences, and an increased enjoyment of life. Well worth the cost. If they have not done their part, then fight them tooth and nail to get your money back, and contact the dz directly to buy your skydives. kelpdiver 2 #20 November 18, 2005 QuoteThey just replied that the weather is bad and we cant jump today So call the dropzone and ask if the plane is turning. If so, then you are reliving the experience in Utah that was on TV. Better yet, drive to the DZ, and call Skyride from there. If they say the weather is bad, tell them you're on the manifest for the next flight.

flyangel2 2 #23 November 19, 2005 Besides all the information you have gotten here, remember, we are only skydivers. We are not lawyers and really can't do much for you. You need to take control of the situation as some of the other posters have said. Have you even called the DZ, a question that has been asked a few times. I can't seem to find where you answered that question. Don't expect us to take care of this problem, again, we are not lawyers. You have a certificate, go to the DZ and make the skydive.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.
