panzwami 0 #1 December 7, 2005 Anyone know where I can find a copy of the photo of the 5-way in a near miss with a Southwest 737? I don't need a hard copy or anything, just want to show someone.

AggieDave 6 #3 December 8, 2005 Call up manifest at Eagle Flight in Granbury. Last time I was there they had copies for sale for jumpers who wanted one.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

panzwami 0 #5 December 8, 2005 how the hell did I miss that? I searched every combination of "737," "Southwest," "collision," "near miss," and "Dallas" that I could think of. Thanks, though.

You sir, are no Ron. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
Eule 0 #7 December 8, 2005 Quote"collision," "near miss," Same thing, as observed by George Carlin and many others. That photo is hanging on the wall at Skydive Dallas. When I first saw it I thought it was a little unusual for the jumpers and the jet to be that close, but I just figured it was part of a demo or something. After this thread I know better... upndownshop 0 #8 December 8, 2005 Quotehttp://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1357825#1357825 Thats interesting, that shot looks different than the one I have always seen, it actually looks like it is a few frames before the "real" close one. I will see if I can get it. From what I understand the pilot was fired due to that. The other rumor is that the CEO of Southwest has it on his wall. What a ride huh? pilotdave 0 #9 December 8, 2005 Someone once posted (I think it was on here) a series of 3 pics of this. One as the plane approached, one as it passed by, and a 3rd as it left. Maybe lost on an old forum version or something... Dave

usedtajump 1 #11 December 8, 2005 There never was an intent to get the Southwest aircraft in the shot. All we were trying to do was to get a picture of a round with the ball of Reunion Tower centered in the middle, the aircraft was a lucky accident. Participants are, clockwise from top, Jim Houston, Calvin Reeves, myself, Tim Patterson, Randy Livingston and Bill Parsons was the photographer. We jumped out of a Cessna 206. Along with an original of the picture under discussion, I still have two others in the series, the one Upndownshop refered to and one after the aircraft departed the area. In the picture with the aircraft in it, you can see that it is just starting a right turn to the west and he continued turning west to get out of the area. At the time, I was a dispatcher for a jet charter airline and one of our clients was Herb Kellerher, CEO of Southwest. I gave him a copy of the photo shortly after it happened and he was truly amazed. A friend, who worked for Southwest as a captain at the time, told me Herb had a large mural of the photo made for his office wall. Oh yeah Upndownshop, Diane Senkow used to refer to Bob's loft, "The Upndown Shop" as the "Down and Out Shop". The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
