dropzone_moron 0 #1 January 9, 2006 Hi all, Newbie here. I finished off my AFF level 7 and 8 over the weekend. I jumped with a sinus cold because it was approaching my 30 days deadline. While I was descending, I heard a pop in my left ear. Now I can seem to equalize that ear. What happened? Did damaged my ear drum?

Barotrauma (injury due to pressure change) can result in a perforated eardrum. Usually a perforated eardrum presents with pain, tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and/or hearing loss. A perforated eardrum can lead to infection; such infections can sometimes result in loss of hearing. Should probably get it checked out.
dropzone_moron 0 #4 January 9, 2006 No pain and No rining, but I'll have it checked out later today. Advice well heeded, billvon!
Ragnarok 0 #5 January 9, 2006 Nurse here: Pop and no pain? Well, you may just have cleared your ear. Good that you are getting it looked at. Still not a good idea to jump with a sinus infection, though. Hope it is ok._________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
popsjumper 2 #6 January 9, 2006 You heard a Pop? Lucky...it could have been an SOS or a JOS in your ear...not good. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Falcon5232, SCS8170, SCSA353, POPS9398, DS239
