We are all in it together, why shouldn't everyone fall under the same body?

Oh GOD!

Please help me explain to these indigenous earth mammals the point that I’m trying to convey!

I’ve presented the facts, you refuse to listen.

This thread is done.

I WIN.

Unfortunately for us, you did not win a one-way trip to Mars.

I miss Lee.
And JP.
And Chris. And...

Who's the boss?

Tony Danza

At some point, we need someone to represent skydivers as a whole to the govt. If the FAA or Congress is making decisions, the USPA can provide a source of information and to protect our interests.

There is a huge amount of misinformation about skydiving on the internet and in the minds of the public. It helps to have some people who are involved in the sport to be there.

The sport has many issues confronting it.

- Airport access is probably one of the biggest.
Skydivers and local pilots have conflicts from time to time. Pilots are generally more involved in the airport governance and operation.

- TSA. Skydiving was shut down after 9/11.

- Taxes. If there is money, the govt wants some.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Tony Danza is a dog?

9-11?
Yeah we got shut down but did the USPA do nothing about it or were they representing us to get us back into the air ASAP?

Eearlier in the postings someone mentioned that ya can't please everyone all the time. Perhaps if we spent less time bickering and more time training there would be less fatalities?

Good points. It's very rare that a governing organization is going to make all of its members happy all of the time. Usually we accept the limitations of such organizations, or we work to effect change in them if the concerns we have bother us enough.

One thing that no one has mentioned is that the USPA provides a community standard should any dropzones find themselves under legal scrutiny at any point. Being able to say "we have, as an industry/sport developed a community standard for our training and our activities" (e.g., BSRs), that stands up much better in a court of law than each individual dropzone saying "We thought about it and figured this was the best way to do things." I'm not a lawyer; someone who is could probably provide a more coherent explanation of that.

Same goes for regulatory pressure. My gut tells me that as long as the FAA sees that the vast majority of U.S. jumpers are working together to develop standards and practices, they'll continue to allow self-governance. The sport gets too fragmented, who knows...

I for one am proud of our efforts so far, no direct presonal attacks..

Cept maybe the Tony Danza remark - dems is fighting words!

Perhaps we should vote UntamedDog as president of the USPA and let him fix everything - the needs of every individual skydiver, whirled peas, hungry children in Springfield, the traffic problems in NYC and of course in is infinite wisdom he can surely put an end to terrorism...
