Jason42 0 #1 January 14, 2006 Last month I got a pretty bad cold/sinus infection that is all gone except for this kind of drip down the back of my throat. I have read alot of these forums about how jumping with congestion is a really bad idea. Right now I am not congested, am not stuffy, my nose is not running, etc I just have this slight sense like there is something running in the back of my throat and every once in a while I have to clear my throat that is all. It's the aftermath of what I went through last month that is clearing up. I'm planning on jumping next weekend. Would this be a bad idea?
kelpdiver 2 #2 January 14, 2006 sounds like my december too. It sucked. I too think I'm ok to go, depending on how the weather shapes up this weekend. I might go to the DZ with the 1000ft pass on the way. If I sense any problems in the car, I know I'm no joy for the air.
Jason42 0 #3 January 14, 2006 I'm not going for a week. I have no symptons whatsoever just trickles of muccus down the back of my throat that I notice. I figure it should all be done in a week. It would be my first jump so I wouldn't want it to be a painful one.
gemini 0 #4 January 14, 2006 Years ago a Dr who was a scuba diver told me when I complained of sinus squeeze that he took a Sudafed and Afrin everytime he dove regardless. I was in Palau in the Eastern Pacific and it worked great for me. Now that I'm skydiving, I take at least the Sudafed at the slightest hint of congestion (like severe popping in my ears all the way to altitude). Only use the Afrin if I have a cold since it seems to be addictive after 2-4 days of use. Blue skies, Jim
BIGUN 1,486 #5 January 15, 2006 I've had some success with buying both Afrin and Ocean Spray. I open the Ocean Spray and do one long squirt of Afrin in it so as to have mostly OS and a diluted amount of Afrin.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. ChrisL 2 #6 January 16, 2006 In my opinion, as long as your nasal passages and sinuses are open and clear, you are fine. A little runny nose isnt a problem. Its pressure changes on blocked sinuses that cause trouble.__ My mighty steed
