gofast_ER 0 #1 February 16, 2006 So i have 229 jumps (and will stay that way for about a month since the dod decided that i owe them about 800 bucks) and most of them have been freefly. I have done TWO four ways and a couple 2 way rws. Never really thought much about rw till i saw the video of the 400 way yesterday. It has been on my mind since. I think i want to start commiting my jumps to rw and actually going for my b and c and eventually d license. That way maby people will take me a little more serious when i eventually try to get in on one of these big ways......god i think i have to go watch the video again!!! gemini 0 #2 February 16, 2006 It's hard to explain why someone wants to do a one-point skydive with a 100+ friends, but I love it. It makes for some expensive jumps though! ...but when the bug bites, you go with it. Blue skies, Jim
mdrejhon 8 #3 February 16, 2006 RW is something I am trying to speciallize on whenever I am not doing solos. I'm trying to work my way up in sizes now. My 100th was a 9-way and after that I attended Deaf World Record, which included about ten 10-to-20-way attempts (but I wasn't on the successful 16-way record attempt, was cut before that). So now I am praticing around that size, and hoping to get enough experience to get accepted in the Canadian 80-way. After that, I'm sure I will probably sign up to be part of a bigway camp (100-way league). It's spetacular when you're already flying with crowded traffic of 20 people, you got to dodge others, and there are some adrenaline filled moments like watching 6 people funnel from 30 feet, or tracking like a rabbit on fire down to 2500 feet to clear air before pulling. In the meantime, I am just waiting for springtime, then I will aim for whatever RW events (4-way novice competition, 8-ways, 20-ways, and maybe 40-ways) happen between spring and then. And one hour of wind tunnel at Skyventure NH when it opens in May. Maybe by then I'll fly good enough to be part of the Canadian 80-way. It's my driving goal at the moment. Oh, and I've never done a freefly jump before, except a few backfly jumps.
L.O. 0 #4 February 16, 2006 I like the big-way thing, it's OK from time to time. 4-way though, is the way to go. If you look at the 400-way list, most have done and continue to do 4-way. small fast skydives, are were you learn the most. They are much less expensive, are so intense and can be as high pressure as you want to make them. Big ways are all about discipline, and a display of the skills you learned on your 4-way team. I know that when they go looking at the people who want on, if your a good 4-way guy/girl you have your foot in the door. Good competition skydiving does more to hone your skills then anything else. I do freefly a little, but hot, fast, small skydives are the thing. If you want to get on the next big one, good luck, but maybe if you givr you can make the one after that. I just can't shut up I need a time out on my keyboard. I like Marks post hes got the right Idea.HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
