Just wondering what skydivers think of the Nomad in general? Personally its the only aircraft i've jumped, so I can't even compare it to other jump planes? Also whats your favourite jump plane and why?

Comfortable but really really slow to altitude. The engines on it are the same as those commonly run on a plane about half it's size called an Islander so it's pretty underpowered. But as I said it's comfortable enough and the one I jumped a couple of winters ago had a nice heating system.

At least that was true of the one's I've jumped anyway.

Yeah, comfy, but really slow (as stated before). I dont think they are rated to have any decent size engines on them.

The one we were jumping had a decent sized door but no inner rail. The outer rail only started 1/2 way down the door and another vertical one miles front of the door. Makes floating near the front of the door a pain in the arse (so 4 way is annoying, unless you learn to headjam)

But otherwise comfortable (even with 18 in them) and cheap to run (cos of the small engines)

I agree on the answers so far.

In Denmark we've had one for some years, and it is a nice plane with the only downside being the climb rate. (I mean, 30+ minutes to do a 4-way competition jump on a hot day??)

Also, because of the construction/engine power, jumpers and pilot must be aware on loading the plane correct. Don't want it to fall out of the sky, do we?? B|

Other than that it is very comfortable and fairly economic.
(And I have sweeeeeet memories of this one being the first "big" plane I jumped from)

My favorite plane??? Anyone that will take me to a minimum of 5000 feet B|
Actually I don't mind jumping from a small Cessna doing hop'n pops, but I prefer something like a Super Otter or LET-410 for altitude. (I'm more into sidedoor than tailgate if we do not include the sweeeeeeeeeeet C-130 Hercules)

Edit: Oh, how could I forget Jan's Beech 99, flying in Europe. 15.000 feet in 9 minutes or so! *clicky*

It's all right to have butterflies in your stomach. Just get them to fly in formation.

I've jumped two different types of Nomad.

One with dog slow, tiny Turbines, that crawls to altitude (relatively).

And one with bigger, better, more powerful engines that climbs pretty good, for an aircraft of its size. With these engines its comparable to a Grand caravan.

I think Chatteris in the UK maye have one of both types, but I couldn't say for certain.
