Elisha 1 #28 March 2, 2006 nice man....I'll jump with you anytime (again)....RW, tracking, maybe even (attempt to) freefly....but I'll pass on a Mr. Bill even if you're the ultimate skygod.
packing_jarrett 0 #29 March 2, 2006 when did we jump, was it at Lompoc. Skygod...? I hope I'm not acting like one they're like my mortal enemiesNa' Cho' Cheese
DanglesOZQld 0 #30 March 2, 2006 Did one with a Pro Series BT-20 once.......everything worked as planned and the canopy was packed to snivel (yes on a blue smack) and did. Wing loading was around 3.3 with the other guy attached. Got some cool pics from it but they are with the "hangee." ;) One of those silly things you have to do once.....would recommend a big ass canopy though! Did one prior to the above with a really big canopy and it was a bit easier! BSBD! -Mark. "A Scar is just a Tattoo with a story!!!"
hookitt 1 #31 March 2, 2006 Quote I hope I'm not acting like one// You're not. He meant no matter who it is with, he won't do a Mr Bill. Nice jump suit, I have one like that only it's a wing wars suit. Some day I'll tailor it to fit and use it.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... packing_jarrett 0 #32 March 2, 2006 yeah that jumpsuits been places, I bet its twice as old as me. Not my colors but I got a good deal... free. it was my dads and possibly my grandpa's and some in between. Edit to add: my dad, Brett Martin (brettpobastad) says hi. he knows you from somewhere.Na' Cho' Cheese
Elisha 1 #33 March 2, 2006 Yup - Lompoc....and yes, "SkyGod" is 4-letter word in skydiving (although in this context, I meant it to mean those of the highest ability and experience).
Big_Red 0 #34 March 2, 2006 QuoteYou should probably take the advice given by the higher jump number guys to heart... They arent just talking out of their ass... the "You dont knnooooowww me" attitude should be banned from this sport. At no point have I wanted to display a "You dont knnooooowww me" attitude so I apologize if anyone has taken my attitude as just that. IMO a "my Instructor knows me better and therefore should be the one I listen to" stance is different then a "You dont knnooooowww me" stance. But now I am curious...can anyone give me any serious and LOGICAL reasons why I shoudn't listen to the one person I have been told to listen to and trust and instead listen to someone who has never been able to see or evalutate my current skill level or ability?Derec Davies Big_Red
Hawkins121 0 #35 March 2, 2006 At 12 jumps is it possible to have any ability other than jump and not die? If it is possible maybe I should have learned somewhere other than the AZTC in Eloy because I'm way behind.. By now I should have my head down transitions perfected and be able to turf surf 1000 feet.......
peregrinerose 0 #36 March 2, 2006 QuoteAt 12 jumps is it possible to have any ability other than jump and not die? Well said. I have almost 160 and still consider myself not much past ability to jump and not die (or hurt someone else). It's why I only jump with people I know, trust, and/or are very safety conscious. Not learning from a potentially harmful situation and thinking it is funny would definitely rule a person out of my list of those I'll jump with. cHoDaBoY 0 #37 March 2, 2006 Dude that is awesome, congrats on the mr bill. Does anyone know what age or who the youngest skydiver is to ever land a mr bill? What I would give to be 15 again. I would probably try and set that record Q. Why do birds sing? A. Because they dont have to pack when they land
packing_jarrett 0 #38 March 2, 2006 ok if anyone was wondering I draw the line a landing a Mr. Bill . but... the guys I was hanging out with at WFFC landed a mr.bill, its on skydiving if anyone was interested.Na' Cho' Cheese
Big_Red 0 #39 March 2, 2006 QuoteAt 12 jumps is it possible to have any ability other than jump and not die? Probably not. But the "not dying" part does kinda require me to listen to my Instructor. (You know...that person that teaches you how to jump and "not die".) I mean really...if you are trying to point out that I am inexperienced you missed that boat. I pointed that out in my first post when I said "Hi, Im new".Derec Davies Big_Red

peckerhead 0 #41 March 3, 2006 I did 7 Mr Bills back in the '80s and only 3 of them worked. The 3 that worked went off clean and the other 4...well, let's just say that both participants got pretty beat up. The last one I did was one of the most memorable jumps I have ever made. I was Mr. Bill and after we opened I climbed up on slugos shoulders and rode around for a thousand feet or so. Then I did a hop n pop and we put a two stack together. We landed the stack so we left the plane together and landed together. We talked about doing two Mr. Bills on the same load and building and landing a 4 stack. We never actually did it but it was fun to talk about. I made my first Mr. Bill when I had about 150 jumps. It didn't work. It took 2 more attempts before the first succesful one. A Mr. bill can be done safely if the proper planning is done. Sluggo should have a big slow docile canopy that is packed to snivel. Mr. Bill should be a smaller lighter person. You really need to dirt dive this one and have a plan. If I was going to do one now I would seriously consider having an IAD jumpmaster that I trust take care of the deployment. A tandem jump is nothing more than a "safe" Mr. Bill. Instead of holding on you have a harness. (but you don't have your own rig) Hey Jarrett, I probably have almost as many jumps with your dad as you do. You may not remember me but a couple of years ago you packed for me at the Madras boogie. I think you were 12 then. Due to an injury I was having a hard time packing. In fact, you are the only person I have ever paid to pack my main. PS. Mr Bills should not be on low ceiling days. Take em to the top. If something goes wrong air above you does you no good.
packing_jarrett 0 #42 March 3, 2006 yeah dude I remember packing for you and everyone else at the Boogie the 2 years before last. Good times. Yeah, thats right you and my dad go way back.Na' Cho' Cheese
