He was killed on Sunday, March 19 when he fell from his parachute. Police reports say Kornelson was along with a group parachuting in the village when the parachute malfunctioned and he plunged 100 feet to his death. Kornelson was rushed to La Loma Luz hospital where he later died of severe head and body injuries. Wind (preferably moderate and steady) is ideal for this. I don't know if that was the case here, but sometimes paraglider pilots do look for such winds.
