In most states, you must be 18 to make any kind of skydiove, not because of skydiving, but because we have you sign a legally binding "Assumption of Risk" (contract) which most States will not honor unless one has reached the age of majority. There are dropzones near you that willl allow an AFF skydive at 16 with parental consent - if both biological parents sign. If you are the product of a divorced family; both biological parents would need to be present to sign the waiver.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. Simply due to the fact that in Texas you have to be 18 to enter into a contract and to jump at all the DZs I can think of in TX you have to sign a "release of liability agreement." That is a legal contract between yourself and the DZ, so if you're not 18 then that piece of paper is 100% worthless. Parents can't sign for it either, simply due to the fact that the state could hold civil liability on your behalf due to being under age. However, DZs have been known to fudge on that in the past and it hasn't been for random people, though. Its been for that high-school kid packer that has been busting his/her butt on the packing mat or the DZ kid that has been there for a while because their parent(s) jump at that DZ and has for ages. So, maybe being in TX you could look around to your local DZs and see if they want another packer on the weekend. Learn to pack and get known on the DZ...If anything, you'll learn a LOT about skydiving by the time you're 18 anyways (and earn some good money to pay for that skydiving).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Technically it's not in Texas, but just barely across the border in New Mexico. http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/Detailed/817.shtml Check it.
