Jumping smoke?

Recommended Posts

That made more sense than any post I have ever read on here. The landing area that we have picked out is over 1 mile long (old runway ) 6 highway lanes wide of blacktop ( thermals I know ) and has grass strips on each side as wide as a football field. Other than that there are no outs. It is on top of a mountain.

So you've got 175 jumps, no demo experience, and want to do a demo into a somewhat unfamiliar landing area, on your wedding day, with smoke, having had no prior smoke-jumping experience, jumping a canopy loaded at nearly 1.4?

Should someone type up the incident report in advance?

Say! How about a smoke-jump seminar at Skyfest? I would be interested, too.

Maybe we should get with J. and see... if there is enough interest, we might schedule something.

I don't know...perhaps when the BERR LIGHT comes on!;)

I bet voodew will still have some smoke thta was left over from zflock. If there is enough intersted and such maybe we could order a box of colored smokes to ship there. I'd pick it up but i doubt the airline would let me take it with me... [:/] I'd really have to get down to skyfest then B|

Please don't buy any smoke --- I have about 30 cans I will be bringing (60 second stuff) and I will sell it at cost ($15 after hazmat and shipping)

I will also have some brackets with me as I plan to do some wingsuit smoke jumps while I am there if it is cool with Steve

I have agreed not to jump the smoke

Very wise choice.

Smoke can be a cool thing. But it adds so much more work to a jump, and its not the best thing to do on a short notice.

Have fun, be safe and you can learn about smoke later.

Just stay safe, have a good jump and kiss the girl.

Is the bes tman a Demo Pro rated Jumper?
How about the Brother of the groom or bride?

You can always have 2 Demo Pro rated jumpers follow you in to the landing area and get the same efect.

After all wouldn't you rather be standing at the reception explaining why you didn't use smoke, than laying in the ER saying "I do"?

I have a few Demo's under my belt and my second cut away was on a Demo with smoke, smoke is not to be taken lightly, nor any other apperatus we add to the jump.

Congrats and happy nuptuals!

Airtwardo, could I get you to maybe teach me to jump smoke? I have only seen it a few times and I think it is just the coolest thing.

What could Twardo possibly teach anyone about the use of smoke?

Wise choice.:P;)

I understand that flour in a sock with a hole cut in it works well...
