Groundrush99 0 #1 May 13, 2006 Hi all, I've been a member here for a few years but never posted anything until now I live in the UK & have 144 jumps to my name. The problem is that I'm not current anymore, the last time I jumped out a plane was almost 5 years ago. Crap weather, getting married, buying a house & a few other things made it difficult to continue doing the sport I loved the most. I did my first jump in 1988 and but unfortunately could not afford to jump often enough to progress to the standard i should be at right now.....I always seem to be going backwards so to speak. Anyway.... Just wondering what your thoughts are, will I have to start all over again & how can I improve my confidence in the sport & my packing....lol I also want a new rig, Boy do I want a new rig but that is another story. thanks in advance for any friendly advice.... SWATcop 0 #3 May 14, 2006 I was in your shoes a month ago. I had 179 jumps with my last jump ten years ago (injury @ 7K ft 1996). I went to Skydive Space Center, sat through the ground training, went through emergency procedures in the harness. I then made two jumps with an instructor and I am cleared to jump solo again. I was very nervous on my first jump but once out the door it was like I never stopped jumping, it all came right back. I am going to be buying a new rig also, it sucks jumping rental gear and its $$. Get some instruction on packing I know I will be.Kevin Muff Brother #4041 Team Dirty Sanchez #

I will do that, I think a lot of things have changed since I last jumped. QuoteI was in your shoes a month ago. I had 179 jumps with my last jump ten years ago (injury @ 7K ft 1996). Dazzle 0 #5 May 14, 2006 I've seen a few people with 100+ jumps start again over the last few years. Generally just a bit of a retrain, possibly a jump with an instructor. It was said that with over 100 jumps you don't really forget. No real need to go abroad just for recurrency though. Might also be worth you going to one of the wind tunnels. Will give you a chance to remember the feeling of freefall and dispel some worries you might have. Nice time of year to get back into it as well
