That way you can count your jumps: . . .96,97,98,99,101,102,103, . . . Notice there is no double zero jump number requiring beer purchases. It works much the same way as a "pre-second" instead of a first. Remember, with the money you save on beer, you can make an extra skydive! DontPanic 0 #9 May 11, 2006 I had a similar issue. I went through static line. The old-timers told me that the static line jumps shouldn't count. I found out later that I could have counted my static line jumps, but I went ahead and started my logbook with my first non-static-line freefall/delay as jump #1. I just went ahead and decided that the jump number in my log book is the number I'll use for my milestones, and not worry about the static line jumps. I think it is pretty much up to you. Just pick a system and go with it.

skykittykat 0 #13 May 12, 2006 Quote I think a true skydiver would not count it until getting ready to exit on your 100th solo, If you do an AFF system that requires you to do a tandem as a level or pre-level, then of course it counts. I counted my 30 tandems as jumps. I was a guinea pig for 6 peeps getting their tandem ratings. I was B licence then and rather naive.... The whole experience was a lot of fun though! danger29 0 #14 May 12, 2006 The way I think is that if you jumped out of a plane then it counts. Whether strapped to someone else or not. I have never done a tandem tho. I did do 5 static line 'round' jumps before moving on to a couple of Hop 'n' pops then deciding AFF was the way to go. They are all in my logbook signed off by the appropriate instructors. Is the Tandem in your logbook?
popsjumper 2 #15 May 12, 2006 Technically they count...realistically, you can count whatever you like. I do not count my jumps from the early days...simply because it's a completely different world out there now. I had my fun with rounds, capewells and PLFs. Now I'm having fun with squares, 3-rings and standups. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Inthebuff 0 #18 May 13, 2006 I did 2 Static Line jumps on Big Old Rounds in 1987. I wore a mechanics boiler suit,an old motor cycle helmet and a big pair of boots. I landed like a bag of b******s and it hurt like hell. 19 years later i did my AFF My new log book starts on 3,I've still got my old log book with my 2 S/Lines in it. I'm now on 51 jumps, that's 49 sky dives plus the other two. For me though 102 will be my real hundred. BillyVance 34 #23 May 18, 2006 I have never counted my tandem nor the 5 static-line jumps I made in the beginning. My point being, if I didn't deploy the parachute myself, I don't count it. Of course, whatever USPA says, goes. But as far as I'm concerned, I have 1222 jumps. Though I've left an aircraft 1228 times.
