DickMcMahon 0 #1 June 9, 2006 In your opinion, what constitutes enough space for landing safely at a dropzone? Areas used for skydiving should be unobstructed, with the following minimum radial distances to the nearest hazard: a. solo students and A-license holders--100 meters b. B- and C-license holders--50 meters c. D-license holders--unlimited 2. Hazards are defined as telephone and power lines, towers, buildings, open bodies of water, highways, automobiles, and clusters of trees covering more than 3,000 square meters. JohnMitchell 16 #3 June 9, 2006 I'm not sure the size. The fence is 220 feet from the runway, but the article is saying "20 feet." How close can you land to the runway? How long is this landing area? Which way does the wind blow? Do you have an alternate field for students? These, and many other questions, must be answered before I may dispense sage comments. FrogNog 1 #4 June 10, 2006 For myself, I like outs in 4 major compass directions and enough space that no matter which way the wind blows, I can find a 10-meter square that isn't downwind of something. Because the major thing _I_ worry about is wind: where it's going to take me (sometimes unexpectedly) and what it's going to be like when I'm landing. For other people, it depends. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
