elias123 0 #1 June 11, 2006 I live in Belgium and was wondering what the term 'tail on fire' means. I'm guessing something with the pilot chute? I read it in these phrases: "Know that when it opens, it will be a line twisted, lined-over 180 with broken lines and the tail on fire. If you're ready to deal with this shite when you exit, you have a good chance of surviving that jump" thanks in advance"In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

docjohn 0 #4 June 12, 2006 I think they literally meant that the tail was on fire.... as if the malfunction wasn't already bad enough. But otherwise, 'tail on fire' is not a skydiving slang expression meant to describe something else (like a pilot chute malf, etc) .
