chutem 0 #1 August 8, 2004 Did 1st solo jump on my 1st pack job Sat. morning. A little nerve racking but all went well. Low solo/hop and pop was the scary one. Ground looks big from plane at this altitude. 21 people snickering at you looking nervous. One said relax this is supposed to be fun. Don't know if he meant it or was just messing with me. One thing though, Door seat "rocks" in the twin otter. Wife did ASP 5&6 but got weathered out for 7. Start coach jumps with Stephan Mon morning. Matt you picked right time to leave, winds never did calm down again. James
Push 0 #2 August 9, 2004 My friends girlfriend did her hop and pop today. It was pretty funny watching her get all nervous about a 5500' exit. Suppose you are an AFF student just doing their hop and pop. Suppose your exit altitude is 4000'. Your normal deployment altitude was 5000' on your AFF jumps. Now look, at terminal it would take you about 10 seconds to get to 3000' from 5000', right? But it would take you 12 seconds to get to 3000' from 4000' if you do a hop and pop! You have more time on a hop and pop, so just relax and enjoy. Anyway, I'm not an instructor, I just got this from reading the PIMs (SIMs) for my B license test. -- Toggle Whippin' Yahoo Skydiving is easy. All you have to do is relax while plummetting at 120 mph from 10,000' with nothing but some nylon and webbing to save you.
mattjw916 2 #3 August 9, 2004 Yeah, it was getting a "bit" hot out there too... it was making jumping feel like work instead of recreation. I'll be back next weekend barring any drama at work. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
